Weather forecast ...... never right!!!

Our winter has been very mild this year. I am not complaining about the warm temps. I will take them all the way till June. I do hate when they predict a nice flyable day then within 12 hrs it changes.

Yesterday they were forecasting 5-10 mph winds. Checked it this morning now we are at 10-20 mph winds.

Was hoping to get a few trim flights in on my Vector this afternoon. Now it will collect more dust hanging on the wall.

Know what you are saying, yesterday was beautiful, low wind and 70. Sure wished I had taken the time to put the reverse rotation Saito 56 in the Latency before this morning. Suppose to get cold and rain, hoping I can get a couple flights in today before the cold front lands in here.

It was beautiful in Little Rock when I was talking to you.  Within 30 minutes of getting off the phone with you, a wall cloud came through about three blocks from us with lightning, hail, and all that goes with it.  Then it was beautiful again.

Well, this year has been different.  With December I thought we were in for it.  Last year it got cold and stayed there.  Was told we had a total of 21 inches of snow last year.  This year so far only a little less than two inches.   Also Parka and mitts in the morning.  Afternoons it is shirt sleeves.   Hate to think about winter finally getting hear.   Also every time I get the plane in the car the wind  blows.  So I left it in the car,  now it starts blowing when I open the car door to get the plane.  When I get my stooge done, who ever is in charge will have to blow hard to keep my combat plane on the ground.

Well doesn't look like today will be it, typical Oklahoma this time of year, when it warms up the wind also picks up. This site says the average wind speed will be 16 at 3:00 when it warms up to 64. Don't think I want to try a new engine out in 16 MPH wind. Guess I'll just take a nap instead.

   There's a very strong La Nina this year. Last year it was moderate El Nino.

I look at the weather forecast for a local airport near the flying circle.  It has been very reliable.

I've been using the web site Russel recommended for a long time here in NE Texas.  Dead accurate all the time, including wind forecast which TV forecasts seldom get correct.  Even proves accurate on the time of day the winds will change.  Try it, you'll like it.

I always have the feeling that I can look out the window and come up with a more accurate weather forecast than the weather guys can will all the instruments they use. The weather forecast for tomorrow has changed at least 6 times since I got to work this morning. Current forecast is partly cloudy and 53° with winds in the 10-20mph range. That's pretty different for the forecast a couple of hours ago that said sunny, 58° with winds 0-5mph.

I'm told that the Puget Sound is one of the hardest places in the country to predict weather due to it being a large body of water between two large mountain ranges and right in the mouth of a wind tunnel. Guess so considering their weather guy's general accuracy.

Been here in central Maine since Dec 21st looking after mother. One day in mid Jan the temp got above 32 for a couple of hrs. and it snows and snows and snows - will be glad to get back with my flying buddies at home in Central [Maplesville] Alabama.
