Does anyone know if Bob Oge (sp?) is still doing plating?  I have no contact info for him and have not been in contact in almost 10 years.

Thanks!
Bill

There are a couple of Free Flight engine gurus who may know a source, if they don't do chroming themselves.  Worth a shot if you'd like to ask them.  Each provides quality high-speed engines for FF:

Bob Mattes in St. Louis:  bobmattes(at)charter(dot)net

and...

Ted Hidenger in Phoenix:  Lucky40lindy(at)aol(dot)com

If anybody knows or finds a good chromer/refitter, please post the info!  y1 Steve

There is a small outfit here in the St. Louis area, that I think some of the old timer speed guys used to use, and it's still in the St. Louis Yellow Pages. (Yes, I still rely on Old Yeller!) They are supposed to be a place that just does small piece work, and I have been trying to find time to go by the shop and inquire just waht they do and what their capabilites are, for model engine work and motorcycle work, but just haven't been able to make the connection when they are open. The location isn't really convenient for me. But I'm 90% sure they have done model engine cylinder work as I remember the name from previous conversations.  It's called Theis Plating, 314-961-0600, web site is www.theisplating.com. Add says 55 years in business. Another place is on the Illinois side of the Mississippi River in Belleville, IL called Quality Plating, phone is 618-233-4808. I would make a wild guess that this may be the place that Clarence Idoh (sp?) used to use. Clarence has been gone for several years, but some of you guys that did speed and combat years ago may recognize the name even if I didn't spell it correctly. He ran a hobby shop and did custom high performance engine work.  I know Bob Mattes, and he's been around long enough in power free flight competition to know for sure.
     Good Luck and have fun,

I would contact Bob Matte. He did a Johnson "S" for me awhile back that is just beautiful. If he doesn't do hard chroming he surely would know who does.

Do you happen to have any contact info or tips for reaching Bob Matte?

Thanks!
