That is a USA 1 by Gordan Delaney. Also, that is Gordan's Bellanca in the next picture with him holding it.

Gordons Bellanca is a sweet peice too, you have to see the cockpit detail, complete with a stunt news featuring him on the cover,, its a really cool peice,
Lots of really nice airplanes,, LOTS,,
when appearance judging was taking place, it struck me the amount of love and passion exhibited there was just amazing. Think about the number of hours invested in 70 or 80 of the prettiest stunt ships you have seen, all sitting together,, Its a pretty powefull statement to the passion in this hobby,, It was humbling and flattering to see my plane sitting among all those

Every time I see a collection of magnificent airplanes I thank God for the POSITIVE affect that BOM and Appearance judging has had. Stunt events, unlike almost all other events have bred modelers who are truly proud of what they create and fly.

I couldn't imagine the Nats or VSC without seeing these beautiful creations in one area at the same time.

Can't wait to get there tommorrow morning.

Yeah he got his going pretty well. It doesnt float its way down when the engine quits, but it looks great.

Jim wisely omits the Vertical 8s (tells the judges in advance, of course), but does everything else in the O.T. pattern....on 70-ft. lines at a rapid clip. As always with Jim, a very entertaining display.

To be exact, the Super Wildcat (FM-1) is flown on .012 x 60 ft solid lines... At 24 oz, I don't know if it could handle 70 ft!
And 4 sec lap times aren't fast, are they...? The second flight was 4.2 lap time and the motor was still four cycling a bit!
Very stable and 'fun' to fly

The landings ain't so good

Whoops, sorry 'bout the line length. Gotta' hand it to you, though: very, very entertaining (as always!).

We can always depend on Jim Lee to show up here with something unusual. Remember his Aeronca C-3? Who else would do that? And he made it work.

Thing is, his IGNITION entry (Go-Devil Sr.) is dead-on serious!

(Jim & Lila are two of my favorite people....in case you couldn't tell.)

Thanks for the correction Keith. That paint on that model is definitely some "outside-of-the-box" thinking. Kudos to Gordon for going for it and pulling it off nicely.

I've seen good photos of his Bellanca before, awesome model.

I crashed my Strathmoor today (inverted) in practice over the grass after the second official.....
There is some benefit to making the tailfeathers of 1/8 light ply laminated with 3/32 balsa and
covered with 8mm silk. Wing is undamaged where Bob McDonald signed it...

Inboard landing gear attachment as well as arrowshaft ttachment need repair; I fly the Mars
as a substitute plane tomorrow if ayone flys, since I'm first up.......

Randy was visibally disappointed with the apperance points garnered by his new creation.
Maybe the problem was that he set it down next to Marks golden bird...

Saturday was blown out by the wind, some folks skipping to the end to avoid problems with the effects of gravity.

I heard a few "touch and goes", but no major losses that I know about...

My wife refused to make me a "WING QUILT"...

We stopped by the airplane Museum near Davis Monthon AFB and looked at a few
planes; I wonder why nobody makes canards.....after all, I like to be different....
(we know rhe Wrights were "eron" about canards..or were they )

Well, since everyone is driving home (Mark is probably somewhere in Utah right now along with Pete Peterson). Mark needs a bigger fuel tank. Engine quit in the first loop of the clover last two official flights. I told him less nitro or bigger tank. Maybe some white gas. Although at home it will probably be big enough. Beautiful plane, though.

Well guys/gals, the old DOC went the other direction. Decided to go to Los Cruces instead of Deming to Hatch and then North. High winds and dust. As we got to Los Cruces they were shutting the highway down. Stopped at White Sands, but could not se much with the dust in the air. Grandaughter was upset we didn't go into the desert, but I wanted to get to Tucumcari before the snow. Had sleet/rain at Texas Canyon on rest room stop. Monday was uneventful until trailer came loose just before we got to Fowler KS. Lucky the store was still open do I didn't have to back track for new 2 inch ball. Then it was rain from about Newton KS on home. I am completely wore out. Guess it must be old age as my arms and chest muscles are still aching. I hope every one made it home from VSC okay as I am glad to be back home.

PS:Had my way Tuscon would be home.jeh
