What a site as I had not really dug into too much before. But, I was caught up on all the forums and was just browsing it. I have spent the last two days reading and looking.
Seen the heading VSC and took a look. What an event that started small and just keeps getting better. A great article written by Uncle Mikey Keville about the very first one and the learning curve they went thru. JoAnn has to be quite a lady to take on the job of Contest Director so her hubby could enjoy his self.
Got to 1995, my first VSC. I went out just to see what it was all about. Seems a fellow worker wanted to take his vacation during the Nationals time. He had senority and the boss said I couldn't go. So I scheduled my vacation for March and the wife contacted Aunt Betty. My youngest daughter rode all the way to Tuscon and back in the old Chevy half ton I was driving at that time. I had never been there and did not know what to expect. Aunt Betty found the field before we got there and then showed me how to get there. Only one other young man there that day, so I only put up a flight on each plane. Showing the daughter the picture of me on the Vicstunt site, she said that was not me as the guy holding the planes was too skinny and only had a mustache. Then she reconized the jacket I was wearing. If you want to see how some of the guys looked back then go take a look.
Were we really that skinny back then? DOC Holliday
