Veco 19 v.s. Fox 35

Just a quick question, I am thinking about switching the engines on my flight streak, and I was wondering what is more fuel efficient? The Veco 19 or the Fox 35?

  The Veco 19 will be more fuel efficient, but may be a little wimpy for the Streak. That is unless the streak is pretty light.

Is the Flite Streak ARF the same as the kitted version that we all know and love?
I fly my ARF with a Norvel 15 and it works okay, though not a 100 mph deal like you are fond of....

What model is your Veco 19?  The ball bearing series is a great engine and has lots of power for the ARF Streak.  It should do the pattern easily on 3 oz.

The ARF Streak is similar to the kit, but has a longer tail moment.  It is light and flys very well.  Much better covering than the Brodak ARF's but the bellcrank is not as good.

How do you think a 70's Fox 19 would do on a Streak?  It runs very well, but I don't have any way to compare it to newer stuff.  Thanks.

My 30 oz. Fancy Pants has been flown with a Brodak .40, O.S. Max .35 S, O.S. .25 FP, O.S. .25 LA and Veco .19 B.B. I like it with the Veco the best. One advantage of using the Veco .19 instead of a Fox .35 on the Flite Streak is that you can use .012" diameter lines. This proved to be a big advantage on my Fancy Pants. My experience with fairly lightweight models, is that the weight of .015" diameter lines really hurts their performance, even with a bigger engine. I was able to reduce tip weight with the smaller diameter lines and the reduced drag of the lines reduced yawing which improved the square maneuvers.

If it is the BB Veco 19, and it's in good shape, it is more than enough for the Flite Streak.

I fly my ARF Streak with an Enya 19 that really hauls it around without a muffler. I know nothing about a Veco 19 but if it's anything like the Enya, it should do fine without the muffler (extra weight).  I fly my Enya in a nice wet two cycle.
Is the P&L all steel construction? My old Enya is, so if the Veco is the same, make sure you use the same type of fuel you'd run in a Fox 35.
My guess is, it should work well with your ARF Streak, because it is pretty light.
