True Works of Art
« on: August 16, 2015, 04:01:55 PM »
I have always said that Don Hutchinson's Warbird plans were true works of art.  Now I have the proof.  When I moved into my new office, I had a large empty wall.  I thought about reducing some on Don's plans and framing them for the wall.  But, then I thought that I'm always being asked about the models that I fly and thought if I put the full size plans up then everyone would have a better idea of the size of the models.  Most when they hear "control line" think about the .049 airplanes they saw as kids, at least the older crowd.  The younger crowd have no idea what control line is.

I have the Hellcat plans at the top and Dauntless plans at the bottom.  Most who have commented on the plans think that they are a three view drawing of the real aircraft, instead of a plans for a control line stunt plane.  An unanticipated down side of having the plans on the wall is that I sometimes get distracted from my work thinking about building the models.  Although I think a little distraction helps relieve stress.

Nice idea, Don's drawings are definitely worthy. I've got almost all of them, I'd need a big room. ;D

I have almost all of them as well.  The Hellcat and Dauntless were the best fit  (it chopped off a bit of both rudders) for the frames that I had.  They were the largest poster frames that I could find locally.
