Trip to Fox Plant

My wife and I made a trip down to Ft. Smith, Arkansas today to go to the Fox Engine plant. I had not been there for about forty years but a few things looked familiar.  It is kinda like a step back in time. There was not a lot of production going on today. It was interesting to see probably five thousand glo plugs in one pile. They were in the process of welding in the elements. They have a retail hobby shop on the premises with a lot of Brodak items. Needless to say my wife watched pretty close when they were ringing up my bill. If you are ever in the area it is a worthwhile trip. Question: How many engine manufacturers  are still in business in the USA?

Fox, RJL/MECOA , Dubb Jett,  Henry Nelson. At one time there were over 60 engine manufacturers in this country. Progress and globalization has really caused the field to shrink.

Trip to Fox is 6 hour drive for me, but, worth the time when you get stuff at discount prices.  I also stocked up on fuel while I was there.  Did the old timer show you the pile of returned engines?  Wouldn't let me look thru them.  Did buy the last small case 40 stunt while I was there.  May make another trip soon just to get fuel.  Later,  DOC Holliday

Better call before you make the trip to get fuel. I called on Friday before going down on Monday. The lady had to go back and check to be sure that they had some. They only had 3 or 4 cases so I ask her to put my name on one, which she did. I got the impression that they didn't keep a lot of it on hand. She said that they generally had it on hand, but sometimes they run out and that they couldn't mix it if the humidity was too high. I wished later that I had ask why. Does anyone know? They also did not have any .35 Stunts on hand, however she said they would have some next week.

I think it's because the Nitro will absorb the moisture in the air.

Correct me if I am wrong, but, it is the Methenol that absorbs the moisture.  DOC Holliday
