too late or too windy
« on: February 17, 2007, 06:04:45 PM »
Had business in Dallas this morning.  I figured that since I was in the area I'd go by and check out the hobby park at the intersection of Garland Rd and Northwest Hwy.  I found it easy enough but no one was there flying.  It was about 3:30 PM.  Don't know if I just missed the crowd or if the wind just kept everyone away.  It was powerful windy.  Don't know that I'd ever been to that park before.  I do remember one of my uncles taking me to see some CL flying at some park in the DFW area when I was a young kid.

Wayne,
I was just there two weekends ago. Did you make it out to Mike's hobby shop? The guys in Tx also have a field in Ft. Worth. I will drive right past it tomorrow.

I'm here in Arlington now getting annual taxes done.  Spent most of day driving the ladies to the Mattel Toy Store, then the German Food store and then to Mikes.  Seen Kirby first thing and he point out the fox's someone is getting rid of.  Supposedly Fox is cleaning out everything and this fellow bought what he could.  Now have three more Fox 15 Schneurles for class II goodyear.  My grand son got a kick out of the indoor racing electric cars.  Some of them really tumble when things go wrong.  So windy I didn't even think to go to flying field.  Back to KC soon as taxes are done.  DOC Holliday

Those Fox engines are insurance write-offs that were soaking in water for several days after the Fox plant lost part of it's roof in a storm.

Yes Terry did say they had been wet.  The original boxes were totaled.  But the 3 I picked out felt really good.  And for $25.00 each couldn't get hurt.  Higher prices on the bigger engines.  DOC Holliday

Doc, I got lots of new (not water exposed) parts for those in case you need something and if Fox mfg doesn't have them.

Hey, today was the first day in a month that is was clear and not freezing. Thought for about 3 seconds about finally getting out to fly. But the 40mph winds sort of changed my mind. Did some gardening instead.

Randy, Gardening is a good thing. It keeps your mind off of flying in 3 mph winds.
