   Hi Mike;
    Don't apologize for the videos,  and keep them coming. It's fun watching him as he is progressing and he is definitely progressing.  I can tell from this video that he's not just flying the airplane, he has command of it. He's showing focus, confidence and the skill he has acquired. You don't see that much in kids his age these days. Do you have him starting his own engines and tuning needles yet? I think since he's at the point that he is at flying, it's time to coordinate that with what it takes from the power plant to achieve that. That will build some more confidence also. It's fun to stand back and watch them do the whole routine for the first few times!

Not starting engines yet. He's pretty timid when it comes to loud noises. He wears earmuffs when he launches for me. I think he's still a little afraid of props. He does understand the difference between rich and lean runs. I'm sure we'll get there. Thanks for the nice reply.

   I went through that phase with Sean. He was OK with Cox engines because the needle was so far back, but typical stunt engines he was very timid with! I set most of his airplanes up with a rear needle set up until he was comfortable and proficient with handling bigger engines.I have plenty of photos of Sean wearing his blue earmuffs  and they were always in the van for trips to the flying field. He'll get there before you know it. His natural curiosity will kick into see what it's like to do it himself eventually. That's just part of the process!

I could sit and watch Sam fly all day long.   As I've said in the past once he learns what that handle is for he will be flying better than the rest of us.   Also I hope he remembers that crashes will happen and that is when you learn to repair/rebuild.  As far as starting don't push him.  He will ask one of these days and I hope you have a dependable engine that will start.  My son wound up starting my planes in some of the racing events and planes I was having trouble getting to start.   Guess some of the engines liked him better than me.
