The T-Rex flys
« on: October 07, 2009, 03:50:19 PM »
Joe came out with what might just be the first production T-Rex in the air. Put 4 flights on it and flew most of the pattern all 4 times while making a few trim adjustments between flights. Yep Brad has a winner.. No in flight photos, Elwin wasn't here and my little point & shoot ain't up to the task.

Did the covering need tightening?

Great news Bob.  I may have to break down and get one.  But, I don't think I  could do it justice.  Have fun,  DOC Holliday

Ended up putting the three blade Greenie back on it, I think the 61 likes it better. The 65 I think liked the two better. Save it for me next time I see you I will take it.

How's the pull on the lines Joe? Is it a handful?

Well done Joe!

I'm looking forward to getting mine in the air soon.

BTW: What prop did you use? I fly off of a rough soccer field and need good prop clearance for a 14" prop. My guess is that I will end up with larger wheels. ;-)

Regards,   H^^

Joe,

Congrats on the new model!

We sure enjoyed flying with you in Dallas back on Labor day.  I wish you could make it to El Dorado in November for our meet.

El Dorado, I spent a week there one day. My brother lives there. Don't blink or you'll miss it.

Must be a different El Dorado...This El Dorado has two airports; one regional with air service, an oil refinery, Spur Oil corporate headquarters, a college, six major motels, French, Italian, Mexican, Cajun, Chinese, Seafood and Steak, restaurants, several (alcohol serving) night spots. Two eighteen hole golf courses, large football stadium, live theater, award winning town square, Large medical center; one of only a handful; with a special type heart operation available in the states, four strip malls, Super Wal-Mart, Home Depot, Office Depot, two McDonald's, two Sub-way's, BK, Wendy's, Quizno's, 26,000 city residents, Karl Malone, (the "Mail Man") singer; song writer, Jason D. Williams, 35 member, model airplane club with a 400 ft., asphalt R/C strip, asphalt control line circle and two grass circles...Yep! Must be a different El Dorado H^^

This for Joe Gilbert, Hi Joe, how would you rate the pull in comparison to your Forerunner? One of our members in Williamsburg/ Norfolk Flying club has one and he loves it! I think it's very sharp and am seriously considering getting one if the pull is manageable for my replaced shoulder.

Phil it pulls more than the Forerunner. But very managable. If the wind gets up they will all pull hard.

Phil,
Joe makes a good point that they all pull hard in the wind.  I would recommend that you just fly the maneuvers upwind.... VD~

Phil if you want to do some comparisons download and install Line-III. Then you can poke in some numbers and see what the level lap line pull will actually be. I believe it's still on this site in the downloads section, if not it's on the Tulsa site http://www.tulsacl.com/
