The Block is over - the Hijacker is started
« on: September 02, 2008, 03:44:55 AM »
have had a builders block for about 4 months and had no urge to do anything - until tonight - started framing up a Hijacker - laser cut parts from Pat Johnson - should be a fun build - have to learn sheet molding - but it can't be that hard right?

Oh - for those that dont know - I moved house recently - and every single one of my planes was broken beyond repair by the ham-fisted moving clowns!!!  still awaiting insurance on the,\m

anyway - here is an hour into the new build

Looks good so far!!

I can sympathize with you about the movers.  The people the military hires to move us does the same thing.  So far I have lost 10-12 planes because of them (among other items, too many to list).  When we moved to Stuttgart a couple of months ago, I packed the best planes up myself and put them in long term storage with the rest of my household goods until I get back to the states.  I made special crates for each one of them.  I make furniture as a hobby so it was pretty easy for me to do.

Keep up the good work, B

Roy's Hijacker was a totally cool plane.  Good luck building this one, I can't wait to see it completed!

Boy I think I would own the moving truck if they busted up all my planes! n1 %^@

And not having anything to fly sure would put me in a building mood quick, fast, and in a hurry.

Looks good Wynn as does all your stuff.  y1

I am trying to figure out how you will use that fishing rod. Is that going to be cut up to make push rods and controls? Maybe eyelets for the lines? LL~ n~ LL~

Do you ever get time to use them?
If so what do you fish for?  And don't tell me about the one that got away. LL~

yes I was working on a B-25 - refer to my comment above about all my planes being smashed by the movers - this also applies to the B-25

Paul,

I build all kinds of rods - I fish for trout - and snapper (which are different to your snapper)

Wynn,
Sure am sorry to hear about the loss of the planes.

The fish however looks like a keeper. What is that about a 5 pounder?  Must have been one heck of a fight on such light tackle.
Lighter is more fun in fishing too! (Just to keep this thread about building light models.) LL~

While I was out in Portland Or, I flew with my buddy's at Delt Park. NorthWest Fireball gang.

I also got a chance to snag this 12 pounder. Biggest fish I ever caught!
I still have half of this thing in the freezer. Mmmmm Good !!!

Wynn...the .46LA isn't going to cut the mustard...what power do you have scheduled for the Hijacker? Stalker or Enya?  D>K Steve

Steve,

Enya 61 CXS pro - at this stage - I may go with the Stalker 66RE - just have to see how it all fits.    Will be a fairly simple swap out if I decide to change - RC type mount, and I will make 2 cowls to accomodate each engine (maybe)

Will post some more pics tonight....(I hope)

Wynn...either would be a great choice...we have Alan Ressinger up in BC flying a Stalker 66. I don't understand the logic for 20% nitro...would rather go to zero nitro and avoid the paint problems and tank size issues. Al is flying a Firecracker with it...Clockwise. I guess that would be Counter Clockwise to you!  LL~ Steve

I run 0% nitro in the Stalker - it doesn't need any......20% is a bit over the top!!!

According to what I read, and what Alan Ressinger said, the engine was tuned for 20% nitro...making YS 20-20 the fuel of choice. Alan told me a few weeks ago that he's running the same fuel in his ST G.21 .46 powered Gypsy. Like I said, I don't like the paint problems that causes. If you like automotive paints, it's fine, if pricey. It's another reason I decided against the 4 strokes.

I, too, would like to see pics of the progress and completed model. I'm sure one of your cool paint schemes will look wonderful on the Hijacker.  H^^ Steve
