Another site of history
« on: April 06, 2016, 04:52:52 PM »
Posted a question on a design over on the Barton site about a plane I just got plans for.   Any way a link was posted that was the designers site before he left us.   A lot of control line history in Australia on this site.      www.control-line.com.au/content/dkd/clmodels/index.html        .   Another place to wile away the time while paint/dope is curing or too windy to fly. H^^

Thanks Doc. He has a great blurb on there about why control line has died out so much. Really a lot of good reading and thoughtful writing. I would have to agree with most of what was said. Sad but true. I remember as kids we would fly for fun. It was all about a great day outdoors running engines and flying the planes we built from kits. After a few years of cars, girls, motorcycles and getting married, I got back into control line. We still got together on a nice day even though the wind was blowing, and flew for fun. Some built planes on Saturday night and flew on Sunday afternoon with that same plane. We did learn to do loops and 8's and fly inverted, but it was all for fun and no one complained about the noise because they knew we were not causing trouble elsewhere.

I see Warren Leadbeatter is looking after the site now. It couldn't be in better hands. He's done a lot for control line, not only in Australia. Thanks for the link, Doc.
