Yeah, I left everything in the car and judged all day. I was too pooped from work and lack of sleep to run around trying to fly and judge and event or two. The wind started out in a decent direction, but moved around to the north/northwest over the trees and that makes major league turbulence. That may be what got Mike's Eclipse. He was up at 45 degrees on the second inside square of the square 8s and the airplane seemed to overshoot the corner and kind of take off, then turned down and splat. It left a long gash in the pavement, so he must have tried to pull up for it to have hit at an angle to make that divot. Mike shook off the trauma and put up a very good flight with his Jamison for the second round. We flew Profile on the donut circle, and the first round was similar turbulence wise. We went right into the second round and things subsided a bit and the guys took advantage of it and put up some nice flights. There was a scoring problem in the scale area and that delayed the awards, and I had to leave to meet a guy from Chicago about a vintage motorcycle part, and didn't really get to see the final results, so I hope they get posted. Too busy to get any pictures, wouldn't know how to post them anyway! Supposed to be better conditions tomorrow. Had a scary moment on a scale flight. A guy named Ed Mason that comes up from Florida to fly scale and visits family, and he brings really big models! This year he had a C-124 Globemaster that was a little more than he could handle in the wind. It got away from him on a landing attempt or touch and go and he dunked the airplane and took a nasty fall, hitting his head on the pavement. He shook it off after sitting down for a while, and seemed OK right as I left. Had real nice looking model like usual. Thanks a lot to all who attended, had pretty good turn out and even with the wind it was a really nice day.
Type at you later,
