Big Jim Greenaway HOF
« on: October 16, 2023, 09:37:10 AM »
I was talking with Tom Dixion at the King Orange contest this past weekend and he is working on gathering documentation to nominate Big Jim to the HOF. He said that even though Jim was not a major competitor he was a major contributor to control line.
He is looking for information that would help with the documentation. If you think you can help Tom is asking you contact him.

Good to hear of the HOF nomination. I don't know a lot about Big, but he had/has a great reputation as a Super Tigre tuner, designed the stiff front structure to make them run their best, and designed some innovative stunters. He was also an ace Slot Car racer...as was Lee Hines of Sweepette HLG fame. I'd suggest contacting Windy Urtnowski. y1 Steve

This is great to hear.

Jose Modesto has posted a lot of information about Big Jim’s work here and on facebook. He is another good source.

Amazing that he is not listed in the PAMPA or AMA HOF.   There is a lot of info in the Stunt History books written by Wynn Paul.  Hope you guys get it done for both organizations as it is way past due. D>K

Amazing that he is not listed in the PAMPA or AMA HOF.

In many cases, it's the fact that no one bothered to nominate someone. It takes a little work but there are numerous worthy candidates that were/are not in  - simply because no one took the time to do anything about it.
