Anyone have any experience with this engine? I have seen the larger ones in use but not the 51.    George

I have very little experience, but as I recall, we did an emergency pipe conversion (at a contest) on one, and set it up much like a 40VF, except with a bigger prop. It ran that way acceptably well (given that the header muffler had fallen apart, anything is better than DNF) but no promise that it was optimal. 17,5, Bolly 11.5-3.5 3-blade - but bear in mind this was A LONG TIME ago.

Theyre pretty much the same ' FIT ' as the G-51 , so near interchangeable . Would apply to SF 46 OS too . all schneurle ' grunters ' , not soft 2/4 loop scavenged jobs .

Top class motors the Ro jetts .

Steve Y from Boston flew RoJett 51 for 2-3 seasons. I can't recall all details but he was winning in expert with it pretty consistently. I don't remember a lot of details so:
  • Engine is a direct drop in for 40VF. Super easy to flip back and forth between them
  • it's more powerful than 40VF
  • It needs a Brett Buck sprinkler venturi modification to fix unequal surging in horizontals 8's.
  • RoJett 51 is probably the most underrated engine in the RoJett line.

To give credit where credit is due, it's a Frank Williams fuel post venturi, and, Billy Werwage was the first person to fully appreciate the ability to mitigate "inside/outside" differences, copied most notably by David Fitzgerald. I just copied David.

My sole contribution was telling people about it on the internet.
