« on: October 04, 2008, 03:13:34 PM »
Well - I tried my best but between 2 guys we only got 4 flights in total on 2 different S-1s. Kinda gusty here in Orlando- the 1/2A's were grounded, and the Fox .15 on my Jr decided to be cranky and not run right.

I put up 2 off the stooge with my beater S-1 with a flitestreak rudder on it. ( needed a rudder and it was handy)

Tom Beaudry showed up at about 3 PM and I launched for him and he got in a flight, too rich and fighting the wind made for some interesting dance moves on his part!

He launched for me with my S-1 and near the end of the tank I dorked it at the bottom of a loop- right after my wife showed up to watch!

2 planes up, 2 pilot, 4 total flights in South orlando on 10-4-08!

I put up one flight in Tulsa but I think several are supposed to make it out on Sunday with more Ringmasters. Edit: The wind was really blowing on Sunday but I took my old overweight beater out again and put up several flights and De Hill put up two flights on it. No other Ringmasters braved the wind.

Haven't got the pics yet but my son Mike and I got out with Big today and got in two flights. I flew one and dad flew the second. He even did some tricks.. Great day. Dad has the video and will post the pics. The Ringmaster is about 45 years old and has a Fox 35 from the early diecast era.

A single Ringmaster was flown by 23 individual pilots on Sunday at the Sepulveda Basin, Van Nuys, CA.  We were lucky to have a PA & Carrier contest going on in the main circles, and recruited a LOT of pilots!!

The airplane was from a Brodak kit powered with Brodak 25, APC 10-4, and flown with an E-Z Just Hot-Rock handle!!!!  Too ugly to take a pic and I forgot my camera!

Four flights up Set  with two s-1 rings three with one one flight with the other.  got curtailed on the Ring flying  teaching six (6) new juniors  to fly with my trainer  I think teaching new juniors to flyb is a whole lot more important than satisfying a whim.  Maybe some day soon they will get the experience of flying a Ringmaster.

We made a total of 6 flights with our Ringmasters at the RC Club of Detroit's CL circle on Sunday during a gathering and picnic.  Excellent weather, great food and good friends.  2 flights were made on the Ringmaster, 1 on the Super Ringmaster and 3 on the Jr. Ringmaster with Michael trying it out on one of those 3 flights.

11 Philly Flyers went to Reading yesterday, visiting the Flying Dutchman. Great field. Very nice folks. We flew some Ringmaster. Wish I took more photos, but I was having too much fun flying and hanging out.  Shawn Cook the 13 year old, skunked most of us in Intermediate at the Philly Flyers contest, end of July. First time he flew a complete pattern. The Three fellows with PF were Reading guys, quite self-sufficient. Showed up and flew. Jack Weston holds the winingest Ringmaster ever. A flea-market special that has won or placed 20 times over the years. Along the way, it has been crashed often and hard, getting no respect. Many club members have made repairs. Typically fixed with left over scraps of monokote and five minute epoxy. These days it's a porky 42ounces and retired.

Richard, there were actually quite a few Ringmasters flying at Reading, PA yesterday. At least 8 flights, since there were two rounds of mass fly. Only four fliers. But the asphalt hard landing surface kept a few out of the mass fly. No doubt individuals put up flights. I'll ask around. There was so much to see flying around, I never thought to keep track. One entertaining sequence was Dan Banjok taking the handle of Bob Flick's Dyna Jet type birds. It's estimated they turned over 155. Bob Flick calls that sport jet. The 1.8 second laps kept Dan hoppin. Shall we say 15 plus Ringmasters a flyin'. Plus. The mass fly was rather tame by the way. Unfulfilling in fact. No line tangles and big time splats. Everyone made it through both rounds. Best we got was Ted Heinritz' beast catching the breeze wrong after his engine quit. Hard to believe the oil soaked log glided up about 10 feet turning towards the center of the circle. Everyone except Ted scattered. The plane came in at 90 degrees near Ted's feet. Alas, the only damage was sheered mounting bolts.

Dennis,
That'll work! I know what you mean by all the action. We had a hard time trying to keep up with our flites and we were consciously trying to be serious about it! I'm really glad everyone was having so much fun!So far we have reports from the US modeling community, as well as Canada,France and Brazil. It truly is a universally known airplane! And in some pretty well known company too, apparently! Great stuff!
Thanks everyone for all the help!

I guess you can add 5 flights from Florida to your XL sheet on a modded Hellcat Ringmaster (actually a parting gift from EddyR when he moved) w/OS FS26. As it turned out, it was our host R/C clubs "Salute to the Military" day, and everyone had warbirds out, so the little modded Ring fit right in.
Still have pics sitting in the camera, will try to post one later.

In addition to raising $175 for The Friends of Rouge Park, we put in 28 flights, with 6 pilots and 6 Ringmasters, a total of 15 Ringmaster/pilot combinations (but short of the potential 36).

The highlight of the day was the successful test flight of Dan Miles' twin Fox .19 Ringmaster.  The gas tanks were a bit on the large side, like maybe nine minutes.  I was allowed to run out the last few.  73 MPH on both engines, 57 on just the outboard.

Any other twins in the air?

Rich Grogan came up to Bryan/College Station from North Houston to fly with us. Here are some pics of our flight line. I had a Jr., an S-1, and an almost finished 526. Rich had his S-1 & 526, Geral Rasco from our local club had a scratch built S-1 from plans he had enlarged to 110%, and Lindley Baugh had a new RSM S-1 that had a Fox Combat Special. The plane's first flight and his first in about 30 years! It was a blast!

Your list of flights on the "Brotherhood" is impressive Rich. 253 flights is a good showing. Should be much better next year. Kudos go out to Joey Mathison for a great idea. I have an idea to make it bigger next year. I will talk to you about it later.

To all the Ringmasters buffs;

I don't know if this was mentioned about the Ringmasters history.

I am reading a book called "Do you speak Model Airplane-the story of aeromodeling in America" by Dave Thornburg.

I quote from the book " Aldrich won Senior Stunt again; Ringmasters dominated combat."

A little trivia for us.
