I bought several short kits from Lazer Works. Then bought Baxter plans for them from Bob Mears (who now sells the Baxter plans). Problem is, the Super Satan and PDQ Circus King are both supposed to have 40 inch wingspans, but the plans for each actually measure 44 inches. The plans were each printed at 110% of full size. I thought the "full size" plan was supposed to allow me to build over the plan. This also means that the ribs, fuselage, etc., are all also printed at 110%. Isn't it normal for a full size plan to be the same size as the actual model?
Yes Dave, you are correct. An FYI for readers: I have more than 250 plans in pdf form, and can say from experience - there are a lot of plans floating around the internet that are NOT actual size. I spend a LOT of time adjusting the scale when necessary, but obviously that hasn't been done with many of the plans available.
That said, I have purchased a few plans from Barry Baxter and found them to be mostly excellent. I'm sure Bob Mears will rectify the situation, and it's great that he is continuing the service. As has been stated, it's probably just a case of "stuff happens".
I'd love to take in another Huntersville contest one of the days, and would surely have to get together with you to compare notes on the last 14 years!
