Ready for some micro-modeling? Check it out: 11" span, I think a 3 7/8" chord, or maybe it's 2 7/8" I forget. PeeWee .020. Notice the scale in the pics with my hand, and with my LittleAxe. A true backyard flier, I'm thinking 12' lines.

What size APC is that, and I think I know how the tank venting works, but could you explain it?

BTW: How ling an engine run do you get with the stock tank and what fuel?

Believe it or not, that's a 4.2x2 APC! I also have a Cox 3.5x2.5 3-blade I intend to try.

Tank venting's purpose is to prevent fuel leakage on the ground. Both vents from the tank top ("side") run up to a Tee above the engine. Probably more elaborate than it needed to be, but I think it looks kinda cool and it'll accomplish the purpose. The interior fuel line is of course repositioned to the lower outboard side (actual bottom) of the tank.

As far as the length of engine run, I have not yet run it so I don't know. I just recently picked up two of these little guys from the Classified section; this is the better of the two--the other needs a little work yet (no NVA, for instance; not an integral tank). I cleaned this one up and that's it so far, but it has good compression and you can hear the reed valve clicking, so it should run OK.

For fuel, I'll first try my standard Champion 15% with added castor, that I use in everything. I may have to invest in a can of higher nitro stuff, we'll see.

I have no idea what to expect from engine or plane either one. I can hardly wait!

That looks really cool. A mate of mine had a pee wee .020 when we were at high school, went like the clappers.

We built a sheet wing trainer, about 12" span from a scrap of 4"x 1/8" sheet.

Surprisingly it flew pretty well. It would loop, bunt, do reverse wingovers and horizontal eights. I remember using almost all of the circle to fit the eights in.

We broke a shed load of props, always crashing when we fell down in tears

(It didn't help that it seemed to be doing 100mph on 15' lines.)

I wanted one bad when I was a kid but couldn't justify the cost when I was saving for a .40, I knew I'd get one someday.........

Found one on E-bay about 6 months ago and snatched it up, unrun, brand new.
I haven't run her yet as I haven't found any suitable props here, looks like I may have to order those APC 4.2x2s from the US, the LHS's here tend to only keep stuff for .40 and up r/c arfs and nitro buggy stuff.

We found the .020 likes 25% nitro and upwards, I've even heard 35% recommended!

I really can't wait for the flight report as I have been "eyeing off" the Queen Bee plan in Tom Morris's book since I first aquired the engine.

You will have a laugh, I guarantee it!

Yeah, I'm looking forward to flying it; at least it'll be something different! I'm planning on 12' lines, mostly because that's the biggest circle I can fit in my backyard, between the garage and the trees. I figure as an old combat flier, I oughtta be able to handle any quick laps it may turn...may be "famous last words", we'll see.

Hey Ray I have 2 brand new Thimble Drome Props that say " use only on .020 engines" right on the hud and they are 4.5x2. Be carfull of the nitro content of your fuel these little buggers don't like to have it changed after break in.(ask me how I know).

Neato Ray!
You may be about to have the most fun that you've had in a long time! Theres nothing quite like flying and stunting in your own back yard! You can hand launch it yourself. I remember flying my Cox Red Baron Pitts Special in my folks back yard growing up. What a hoot that size of plane is, its what I first learned to do more than just a loop with(it flew pretty well inverted too)! I still have it, and the Lil Stinker and the Art Schroll Pitts too!
I also have a couple of .020s I need a plane for. Are you planning on kitting it? If so how much and when? Let us know!

Somehow I knew the kit question would come up...I wasn't planning on kitting it but you know me, my arm can be twisted. If I were to issue a kit, it would be modified somewhat--a simpler fuselage profile for one thing. Price? I dunno, haven't thought about it. How much would you pay? (hehe)

I will give it some serious thought if there's enough interest.

I thought about ordering a kit from you after it was mentioned.

Did the sums, $35 divide by .75 + 8 bucks for a money order = $55 Aud.

Nup, the missus would kill me, there's enough scrap to build about 10 of them around here!

I reckon I could Knock up a kit in the time it took me to post the money order

Boy, it would be a fun little kit to put together though!

I ordered some props from the US for my .020 this morning, can't wait to get it happening.

Well see, I got a big roll of yellow film...gotta use it up. Besides, yellow planes--especially small yellow planes--are easier to see in flight. That's my story and I'm sticking with it.

i dunno how many it'll take to "trigger" me to make kits--I'd have to cut templates first, not worth just one or two kits. Maybe a half-dozen? Just speculating here...

How about a micro Bee, or a twin Bee?
