Thanks for the pictures, John. What's that "Predator"? That's a new one on me. I know what all the rest of them are. It looks like a bit of T-Bird 2 and a bit of Ruffy, maybe some Skylark and Shark thrown in. I'd guess that it might be an Aussie design?

Yep, that's Tom Dixon's. He tends to favor the Aussie designs. Flew an 'All Australian' in OTS.

Bob brought the USAAMA (that he pronounced Ooosa-Amma). It was the forerunner to the Stunt Machine. But as noted, he was not happy with the trim and decided to fly the, ah, well traveled Caprice. By the way, bet you'll never guess the colors on the USAAMA.

I believe it is. Flown by one of the Las Vegas guys who is trying to promote a new club in his town. Nice guy, nice model. It seemed to fly pretty good also.

Isn't that a Sig Chipmunk? (first set, second pic) If so, how did it skate by as Classic legal?

That's Robin Sizemore's Van Loo Chipmunk. Earlier and larger than the Sig kit and classic legal.

That Chipmunk belongs to Robin Sizemore. This one is actully designed by Joe Dill. It is now an RSM kit. It is Classic legal.

There was another Joe Dill Chipmunk there by LeRoy Black in British markings. It is pictured below Gordan Delaney's "camouflaged" USA 1.

Thank you for the clarification, Keith. I knew it wasn't the Vanloo version, since I have one of those. I'm not too familiar with the Joe Dill version.

The Joe Dill Chipmunk is probably the most scale-like version of that design. Absolutely delightful!

Great pictures! I like the '57 Nobler with the Jim Silhavey '62 Nats paint scheme. The is the first time I have seen that reproduced. Nice job to whoever did it!

Excellent photo's .

I wish there was a way I could have made it out to that contest, I will certainly try over the next few years to fly in it. The VSC has firmly positioned itself as the #1 Premier Classic / Vintage Stunt Contest on the planet. I applaude those whom competed and do well.

With my results in US Nats Classic I felt I was a pretty solid Classic flier - I recall also making the statement that I thought a Top 3 in VSC was quite acheiveable.

Now - I would kindly like to officially humbly retract that statement.

My comment was i'll informed as to the depth of the field, the difficult conditions of High altitude in Tuscon, the appearance judging and the overall calibre of fliers who attend. Past Nats winners , World Champions ect.. Looking at the scores its fairly easy to extrapolate the quality and depth of the field and to make some assumptions as to how difficult top 3 is to acheive. My comments of top 3 being "acheiveable" disrespects those whom have done it, and strive to compete at the highest level so I apologise to all those whom have done so well in the VSC in recent years.

I also want to acknowledge in the strongest possible terms Bob Whitely's acheivement in victory. I know how difficult Bob hunt is to beat, and how many VSC Champinoships he's won.

So congratulations - Both Bobs..

I will try to attend a VSC in the next few years and I will attempt a solid Top 15 Finish & I would consider that an abitious goal.

Once again congratulations Bob on your Victory, I can think of few who deserve it more. Hopefully we can go head to head out there in the sun one day.

Thanks Dennis, and all the rest of you. Taking pictures, and making them available to those unable to attend, has been something I like to do. I know how it is wanting to attend a competition, and waiting for pictures and results.

Gordan flew the Japan-1. The Bellanca developed some engine problems which Gordy and Bart tried to correct for a week. Finally he decided that he would have to fix it at home, and concentrated on the USA-1 (Japan-1).

My Staggerwing was there, but I also experienced engine problems. It was a new engine, and while trying to get it working right, it flamed out inverted. I was over grass, but during the inverted landing, the entire tail section broke off. I decided that it would have to wait for next year, and flew my All American Eagle back up.
