Picture of my new Humongous
« on: August 13, 2010, 06:59:13 PM »
This is a picture of my new Humongous, it replaces the one I have been flying over the last five years.  I hope to take it to VSC next March.  The power is from a Saito .40S with a Xore 11 x 6.  I would like to get a 11 x 7 but I can't seem to find one.  Anyway just wanted to show it off.

Andy,
APC lists an 11 x 7, part #LP11070,
http://www(dot)apcprop(dot)com/pindex(dot)asp?Page=1

11 x 7 used to be a standard size for .60-powered pattern planes.  The Brodak catalog lists that size in BY&O, Rev-Up, Zinger, and Bolly Clubman (11.5 x 7 which could be cut down).

Also, what covering material did you use on the wing?  I heard that someone in So Cal used Coverlite on a Humongous.

Thanks,

Andrew,
I have never met you but, you have a Saito 40A in the nose, and that makes you my friend for life.

Thanks for the kind words everybody.  Doc, look forward to seeing you at VSC.  Dave I hope you and your dad will make back to VSC, we really miss you guys.  As to the covering, it is Polyspan and dope, the red is Rustoleum and the decals are the work of my good friend Larry Renger.  I will give APC a call and order the 11 x 7 prop.

Anyway again thanks for the kind words and right now I am getting ready to cover my next Old Time legal plane.  Its a Yates Madman, Larry says he has some silk for me to cover it with.  The Madman is a first article check our for Eric Rule at RSM, as it gets closer to finish I will post some pictures.

I gave Andy a pilot, you  guys keep after him till he paints and installs it!  Oh, yes, Andy, the way to do it is with acrylic or plastic model paints and a final, protective overcoat of clear satin Urethane spray.  (I think I have all these I can lend you).
Think S.M.A.L.L. y'all and, it's all good, CL, FF and RC!
