Medical information
« on: October 05, 2013, 08:52:09 PM »

listen up guys,  we had our ringmaster flying today and invited some free flights and R/C guys to join us
Bob Nichols free flighter up in age new in town  had a heart attack just as he was landing , he had no information of any kind other than his drivers license on him, no way to get ahold of any family members who are all out of state. we had to go to his house and find numbers

two other senior flyers in town and i have each others family phone numbers and keys to each others homes so we can check when someone is out of town

dont let this happen again buddy up with someone you fly with regularly and exchange information . ask Bob Whitely how close he came to not making it ,it can happen to any of us

Tape an "emergency contacts" list of names and phone numbers to the back of your drivers license.  Works for me.  (Remains to be seen, of course.)

Another good idea is to have emergency numbers saved in your mobile phone as ICE, ICE1, ICE2 etc ("in case of emergency"). Apparently this is now one of the things emergency services will look for if you're in an accident.

I like the idea of the ICE info on the phone. Will install on both phones today. I carry a list of my meds in my wallet just in case, this is also very important in an emergency.

I am sorry you had to experience this.  Thoughts and prayers to the family.

I experienced something similar with a co-worker.

Yes, having information readily available (phone and wallet), and people aware of the most basic contact information is very important.
