Hi Tom,
Three of us members of Metrolina Control Line Society went down from the Carolinas on Friday and stayed over till
mid-day on Saturday. I have been to large model shows with manufacturer booths and etc,but Perry is more of a swap meet format that is staged on a size level that boggles the mind.
Products ranged from the new and readily available to order ,to the old and almost unobtainable. For example, one gent had Volume 1-Number 1 of Model Airplane News from 1929. I never believed I would ever see it with my own eyes but there it was and in incredibly good condition. the variety of stuff available in front of you that you can normally only find available on the internet was just amazing.
Control line stuff was laced here and there within that huge sea of R/C stuff. US C/L Scale Team member Richard Schneider had a booth to promote control line scale. Tom Dixon and Tom Morris were set up side by side selling their C/L stuff and others were nearby also selling C/L products.
Tom Hampshire was decked out in his short sleeve VSC shirt and was happy to take a warm break from the snow back home. We ran into Dale Barry but son Derek was elsewhere in the building at the time. Fellowship, laughter and enjoyable conversation seemed to be the order of the day.
On the other hand walking lo-ong aisle after aisle of tables in three huge buildings led to aching feet legs and backs for our somewhat "senior" group. When you add in making extra trips to the car to lock up newly bought goodies we were tired, aching and "dragging" guys by the end of the day.
Every one of my guys found some "treasure" they needed or wanted to take home but they didn't find everything so we all look forward to going back next year and look again. This was a fun and satisfying trip and I highy reccomend that others experience it for themselves.
