Results are being posted near real time as Bill Lee suggested should happen.

It appears that not all pilots have been scheduled to get their second flight for the day. Orestes and Paul look to be in good shape based on their scores on their respective circles. David is OK also.

Thanks Keith. I was just getting ready to post the same thing. Circle "A" scores seem to be significantly lower that "B" which would seem to favor Orestes a little. Some strong flights from past winners Igor and Richie K. David's first round flight was early in the day on the 'A" circle so look forward to seeing what he does on Tuesday.

   Unfortunately that one is blocked for me right now, but it's also the middle of the night, so I doubt that a lot of scores will be posted between now and the time I get home...

   David was third on his circle earlier, so I think he's in good shape, too. Just got to get through to the end which is roughly 8th or above on your circle, assuming they are reasonably balanced (which they appear to be).

Actually looks pretty good after most of one round - Orestes well out in 1st, Paul 5h and David 6th. I predict David beating his 1st A flight pretty easily unless something serious happens, so he's likely only going up from here. You never know, but unless circle A balloons to the stratosphere, pretty solid for the flyoff, I would say.

Hmm, catch-up time, the scores have gone up about 100 points! Thats going to compress the scores - at least for those who fly this afternoon.

Might be even more unfortunate for those who have to fly on the same circle tomorrow morning, depending on how it goes. Won't affect you guys, but it might get someone. All in all, you knew the 900's couldn't hold in there all week, it had to go up at some point. Better now than in the finals.

"Balloon" is stunt jargon for the tendency for scores to increase as the day goes on. Unlike many stunt scoring myths, this tendency seems to be real. I have looked at scoring data and have seen it. The world champs is a big contest and their procedure is to have everyone fly in each of the preliminary rounds before the same set of judges. Thus one round takes more than one day. It is difficult to have consistent judging and consistent weather over a whole round. Round start times and contestant flight orders are staggered, as I recall, to ameliorate the problem. We have a different procedure for the US Nationals. Our rounds are compressed into a pretty short time, but we have fewer contestants and use more circles.

I looked through all the results, and noticed that Austin W. Minor (currently 42nd place) is listed as being from ISR (Israel, I'd bet). Could be correct, but I'd bet a (Aussie) dollar it isn't. If this is an error, it would probably affect the team position, so I hope it would get corrected if it's not.

Funny thing about that ballooning thing in stunt judging...I usually seem to give lower scores in the 2nd round. Probably because my feet hurt by then?

Two Minor brothers, Andy and Cary, are former Texans living in Kansas City. Andy is on the US F2D team. Yes, curiously, Cary is on the Israeli team. Austin is listed as a Junior, so I presume he's related to Andy or Cary. I don't know how they came to be on the Israeli team, but I hope the surgery wasn't too painful.

In other international F2D news, Greg Wornell of the Dreaded Canadian Combat Contingent is on the US F2D team, but he's been living in Boston for a long time. Alex Prokofievs, who also lives in Boston, I think, is on the Latvian F2D team. Leonardo Silva, a US citizen, is the F2D pilot for Mexico. His pit crew is Chuck Rudner and Andy Mears, both of whom have been on US F2D teams, but live in parts of the US that were formerly in Mexico.

Austin is Andy's son. Austin and Carey are flying for the Israeli team while Andy is flying for the US.

The Russian Jr flyer must be something special in F2D. First overall with no losses.
