This, of course, is my Floyd Carter "Wildman 60", powered by an Orwick 64. John McCollum built a piston/cylinder for it. Keeping plugs clean is an ongoing problem..... never was a problem "way back when", I'm told. I'll be checking out Jim Kraft's Coleman/Outboard Motor Oil fuel recipe soon.
Dick Wolsey, just before he suddenly passed away, told me to watch my mailbox, and shortly thereafter, a "Wildman" kit that he had specially cut for him arrived at my house. I got it ready for the VSC, but Dick wasn't there to see it fly. It is a wonderful plane to fly, smooth and dependable. Gaylord Elling has one for OTS, Richard Oliver has a wing for one ready to go. To me, they just look "right".
I tried to build this plane such that it would be just as it would appear in 1950, and since that's when I began building planes, it came fairly easily to me. No car paint, no clear, Plain Jane. I greatly appreciate whoever decides things like the "Spirit of '46" award, for my ship has won it twice, even though it's quite homely.

Edit: Hey, don't get me wrong....they don't HAVE to be homely. Gaylord Elling's "Wildman" is a real beauty. It was even picked to adorn this year's VSC T-Shirt!
