olde dogs can learn new tricks
« on: September 12, 2010, 06:56:20 PM »
Today I was winding my lines up the usual way and noticed they were starting to get "coiled" pretty bad.  At this point I exchange them for new ones.   Tom Morris told me about a way to remove the coils.

Remove the lines from the lead outs and wipe them in the opposite direction. In other words from the handle to the plane. I have always, since the late 50's, wiped from the plane to the handle.  Well whatta ya know, the lines became fairly straight and after two reverse wipes are almost like new or very straight. I asked a few of the Experts and Advanced and they seemed to know about this technique.

I'll bet a bunch of us Beginners and Intermediates might not know about it.  Now we do... Just one of those things you never give much thought about.  FWIW guys.
