I started to count the number of REAL C/L stunters vs all the rest (R/C mostly) but gave up because it was too discouraging.

This issue did have an interesting article about electric motor controllers. (not a construction article)

I think I counted thirteen CL photos, including carrier, scale, and racing.  As I recall, there was one CL photo in the nats issue last year.  There was also recognition of CL efforts at Oshkosh, which was absent last year.

There was even a caption in the NATS report with Eric Taylor's Katana that said, "Maybe other national events should have appearance-points programs."  I think they are starting to take notice..........

If we had the numbers that RC does in control line, maybe we could have a little more voice with the AMA.  We are not in the late 40's or early 50's thru 60's anymore.  I can remember when control line and free flight was the most covered in the magazines of the time.  I am glad we get what coverage we do have in MA.   H^^

I still haven't received the new issue of MA. Maybe that's what happens when you renew early.

I think Doc is spot on. We are maybe 3% of the AMA membership - and considering - I think we are lucky to get what coverage we get. Also, we are very lucky to have fling Models magazine.

After all, model aviation is not a matter of life or death - its more important than that!

I think I saw several Charlie Bauer's scale planes in lasat year's MA report.

Jim,

I had the 2009 Nats issue close at hand and counted six pictures of control line.
Page 17 had the shot of Kaz's family and the Olumpus
Page 19 had a shot of three-up racing of Tim Stone, Dave Hallas and Dave Hull
Page 20 had a shot of Ed Mason's (FL) B-17 and Peter Bauer's Skyraider
Page 21 had a in-air shot of Charlie Bauer's Constellation.

So control line had 6 of 25 shots of the Nats presentation.  Would I like to see more? Yes.  We got 24% of the published photos in the article from the 2009 Nats.

Leester,

Got it. Go Rangers!!!!

To ALL,

We have had the best CL coverage in years. Not just stunt. And even better they also had some freeflight and indoor photos.

It is time for us to send a barrage of letters to the editor with thanks for the coverage in the Nats issue. Bobby's column also had good coverage on his electric Genesis. (Can I say "Electric eel")?

There was one letter to the editor in the October issue from an RCer that complained about the magazine during "the 90s and early 00's". It seems like an obvious compliant about coverage other than RC and of Bobby. To his credit, however, he then asks for more on anyone who promoted model aviation during its infant/toddler years, and asks for more building and non-arf articles.

Interestingly, the next letter rightfully commended MA on the tribute to Ed Kazmirsky and the says "Don't forget to include the control line guys"

This is another reason to write to Mike Ramsey in support of the CL coverage in this issue. Let them know that we are here.

Letters of compliment do not do any damage, and I would think that emails and letters of thanks for the control line coverage might encourage MA to continue to cover us as they have the past two years.  Model Aviation has approved Michael Schmitt, Watt Moore and me to send in the new article for the Bob Gialdini 1965 Nats winning Eclipse.  We are 99.44% done with the article.  Michael needs to approve the final CAD drawings and his daughters are final-proofing the text that Michael and I wrote.  Hope you enjoy it when it becomes published in MA.

Thanks there to support by Michael Ramsey, Jay Smith and Liz Helms.
