Whatzit?
« on: October 24, 2010, 11:13:21 PM »
This aluminum spinner came on an older engine that I picked up off of Ebay a while back. It's 2-3/4". Can anyone tell me in confidence who made it? It looks like it would actually clean up really well, it doesn't have any dents or diggers in it. If anyone here would be happen to interested in it just make me an offer. Otherwise, I think I'll just pust it back on the 'Bay soon.

 Thanks!

Terrance - you touched a memory bank when you said that - I flew a LOT of Whatzits back then!  Loved the design, still do, even though it's not in the same league with today's stuff, but I bet it would be a great speed limit ship.

Well, it's a Froom or a Veco. My guess is Veco based on the inset on the back plate.

Looks like a Super Tiger spinner.

That is the biggest I have seen and the only one I had left went on an ST G.15 sent to Australia recently.

Possibly the receiver of the engine can post pick of that spinner?

My guess would be that it is either a Froom or one of the earlier Veco  types.  Spun  alumunum formed , but with a home made or aftermarket backplate.

Hi Marvin!
Hows it going? Hope all is well.

Just remembered a ST X.15 I have so went and looked.
The nut part is brass and the back plate also doubles as thrust washer so is probably not ST.

If it is VECO/Froom The nut part blends to the shape of spinner much better than any I have!
