Not model aviation but a real thrill
« on: August 26, 2010, 04:22:40 PM »
I recently was able to try this out. Just something a bit different.  n~

What a ride! It's a little car with a carbon/Kevlar body and a big mid-mounted 179 cubic inch V-8.  #^ #^

The owner is a close friend of mine and I thought I was a pretty good driver until she got behind the wheel. She handles the car like a pro.

Bad news though - ZERO room for model planes.   LL~ LL~

Bob,

That's not a Ferrari.  What is it?  It looks like a Fiero with a body kit on it.

Hi, Eric - good call. The car shown in the ad is a relatively early one. I'm not even sure if it has roll-down windows.
Julie's car is a 1991 with many more refinements. It's quite easy to drive but enrty/exit is a real pain with the high sills.

The real fun is when you boot it, the twin turbos kick in and you instantly feel 480 HP. Virtually zero turbo lag.
Weighs around 2300 LBS.
Although completely road legal, the car has no trunk and no glove box. Great AC though!

I instruct at a local track. Last year I had a student with a Ferrari F430 Scuderia.  Carbon fiber, 4.3L V8, 2900 pounds, 508 HP.

And I got to drive it, on the track.  Of course, it costs more than my house (list price $281,000). But I had a GREAT time with it.
