TOPCLASS II 2010
« on: August 29, 2010, 03:14:06 PM »
Well Sandy and I made it home with no problems.  Surprised the wife that we were so early.  She was looking for us to show up at evening Church service.  I don't know where every one was at.  Bigiron did tell me he had other commitments that over rode the contest.  Didn't get any pictures as I didn't get time.  Didn't more than clean the filter on the P-39 and I had to fly.  Kirby tries to run a good contest with the clubs help.  But, when there are no entries what do you do.  Yes the wind was a lttle nerve rattleing.  Needed to have a little more needle on the P-39 for the conditions.  The P-Force flew fair except for the verticles.  Beat Ken Nash.  Had to thank him as he left balsa all over the new circle.  Jim Kraft won classic with that awful Magician again. LL~ LL~  I got second with the P-39.  Ken Nash got third, didn't get the plane design.  An Jim Piscetto, rounded out with a fourth with the plane in the car.  I think he had an early prctice flight why he left it in the car.  Had several flyers that decided to sit it out or work scoring.  Maybe Jim will post the horrid details in the events section.  Nothing like getting blowed out of an inside loop. %^@ By the way the new field is looking great with the new center pad for the grass circle.  The new donut is even looking good waiting for better weather to plant grass seed.   H^^

Hey Doc; It was a matter of survival. Once the plane was in the air, just hang on and hope for the best. I thought your flight in P-40 was very good considering conditions. A well deserved 1'st. I had several firsts, one being I only used 4 ounces of fuel at a contest, and I think this was the shortest contest I have ever been to. LOL  It was good to see everyone again though, including Sandy. I sure do like their new field layout. At least you know the wind at the top of the circle will be the same direction as down low. Hated to see the crashes, but that gusting wind was not very forgiving.
