A lot of excitement around here Monday. I'm sure you must have seen the news about the tornadoes that hit Suffolk, VA. I left Norfolk early to pick up Russ and take him to the Norfolk Aeromodelers meeting. Shortly after I left the house and got on the freeway traffic was almost at a standstill because of the downpour. Very much reminded me of the proverbial "cow pissing on a flat rock". Chesapeake is just east of Suffolk.
The meeting was brought ot order by John Tate and his discription is better than I can write, or remember, so I stole it and quoted it below.
I am posting pictures of the entries and the winners. Check the Link in John's post for more pictures.
"Hi Gang.
We had a great club meeting last night (Building Contest). Artie Jessup with a great looking Brodak Smoothie won this year’s building contest. The Smoothie is powered with a Brodak 40 engine. Artie rebuilt the airframe from a crash that many of the parts were replaced.
Bill Ballinger received 2nd place with a Sig Magnum. The Magnum is powered with a Double Star 60 engine. Great paint.
Steve Fitton won third place with a Nakke. The Nakke is powered with a Double Star 50 engine. This model should fly like it is on rails.
The building contest was a close one this year. All of the entries were first class.
We had 8 entries this year. Abram Van Dover brought in a Trixter Babe and a Sig Sky Ray. The Trixter is powered with a Cox .049 and the Sky Ray is powered by a Thunder Tiger.25. Russell Shaffer (from Oregon) brought in a Glo Bug powered by a Fox 19 engine. Willis Swindell bought in his Vector powered by an OS LA 46 engine. I also brought in a Vector powered by an OS LA 46 engine.

http://community.webshots.com/album/563246229RbhUbcWe had a long discussion on the paint problems again this (just like last year). It is getting hard to find a fool-proof paint to use on model airplane these days.
The next Norfolk Aeromodeler club meeting will be on May 29, 7:00 P.M, (fourth Thursday), at the Russell Memorial Library located on Taylor Rd. (behind Chesapeake Square Mall).
See you at the club meeting and out a Fentress.
