NMAD 2015 Indy Sportliners
« on: August 17, 2015, 06:22:06 AM »
Our NMAD fly had terrific weather and a decent amount of visitors. The club received over $100.00 in donations that will be sent to AMA for the WWP. We had 7 of the Indy Sportliners club members there and had three other great stunt flyers show up, even one from Muncie. We also had Grant Heistand with his 1/3 scale Spacewalker that won true scale at the Nats this year. That plane is gorgeous and was a hit. Jimmy Vornholt showed up and it was good to see him. Jack Sheeks and his sweet wife also dropped by. THANKS to all of you and hope we can make it bigger next year.

Grant told me about the great turnout and how things turned out. Sounds like an awesome day at the flying field promoting our hobby!

In addition to the model airplanes we displayed and/or flew there was a lot of additional activity in that corner of the park!
Next to us was an RC Car club with car races going on.  They also had some 4 wheel drive trucks that they would let you try to drive them over obstacles.
Across the drive was a "Free Touch A Truck" display.  They had about every size
a small scooter to an aerial ladder fire truck.  The kids had a ball setting in the operators seat and thinking of driving one of these rigs.
Next to the truck display was a display of small racing boats powered by antique outboard motors.
During the late morning they had an emergency run and the ambulance left with red lights on and siren wailing.  It was followed a couple of minutes later by the aerial ladder truck.  They both returned later.

That is great you guys got something done.  Most people think NMAD is just RC planes.   Maybe a report to your district rep.   #^

I left out one picture.  The park staff even provided bleachers for the spectators of our flying.
