New Years Day flying in SoCal
« on: December 27, 2010, 05:50:12 PM »
I will be visiting relatives near Victorville over the New Years Day weekend. Anyone planning to fly at either Whittier Narrows or the Sepulveda Basin circles on Saturday, New Years Day? If so, I'll plan to bring a plane and join you all in celebrating the New Year by burning up some GMA 10/22. 8)

There's a group that traditionally flies 1/2A combat on the beach.  Contact Rich Lopez.

Thanks Howard, that sounds like waaay too much fun...but I'll have to pass, not really geared up for combat at the level those guys fly, even at the beach. Thinking more along the lines of a few stunt flights to get ready for the SW regionals and VSC. 8)

Pete , if the winds are not too strong , there should be a gaggle of flyer's at the Sepulveda Basin.

Im not sure that gaggle, is the correct word for a group of fliers..

Gaggle is for geese... surely we are not geese !  <=

Perhaps we are : A Flight of fliers ?

Other suggestions ?

A Pungent of Sasquatch !
An Ascension of skylarks !

My favorite is : A brace of Bucks  !

We could also be a  covey or a pod but never a murder of flyers . How about a pride of stunt flyers ?

A bunch of us will be at Whittier tomorrow, Friday, probably from 8:30 to noon.  Andy Borgogna, Stan Tyler and Antone Kephart and me, at least.

Thanks for the update Larry. Unfortunately due to weather conditions I had to take my snow car which didn't leave room for any airplanes and wasn't able to stop by Whittier. Did manage  to make it to the Smith Bros. Hobby shop though and SCORED their last quart of Sig Lite-Coat clear dope and saw Tony N. Made the trip all worth while.  8)
