New to the Hobby Forum
« on: January 04, 2015, 08:12:09 PM »
Hey Gents.

Come to my attention that a lot of the questions us new guys (or returning)
are asking questions that may be second nature to some of you. Maybe you should
start a forum specifically targeted to either new or returning C/L guys so that
we can ask questions and not interfere with already embodied builders. As a returning
C/L flier I know I have questions that may same mundane to some of you yet they
are VERY important to some re entering the sport. Just a thought.

Welcome!  The search feature is great, but don't be scared to just ask if you can't find something.  Sources and methods change all the time, linked pictures sometimes get deleted, websites get outdated so links break, etc so a search result from 4 years ago might not be all that relevant or accurate now.  Sometimes the best way to get an answer that's current is to just ask.

I too had to discover the Search feature as I got back into the hobby this year. Also while searching a lot of other related stuff comes up of good interest.
Just by posting and putting up videos of my flying forays...I got a lot of feedback and suggestions from members on here. Tips and critiques.
I did a video on intro to Control Line that is for those unfamiliar. I added many links in the description box below to help fine parts and kits and such.
Have fun on the CL Quest.

Hi Richard.  Try to use the search function.  A lot of your questions will be answered.

It's nice to use the search function -- but if it doesn't work for you, go ahead and ask.

The problem with electric is that once you get the smoke generator and sound system installed, the plane is too heavy.

Hi Richard, welcome to Stunthangar.
If you want to search only one specific website for your question, open Google and type your query in the following format:

your question site:stunthanger.com

All of the hits in the list will only be from stunthanger.com. Do not use "www" Another site you might want to try is clstunt.com so you would type:

your question site:clstunt.com

Sometimes Google finds more than a website's internal search feature.

Hope that helps.

Welcome Richard!

Ask away - you won't find a more knowledgeable, helpful bunch anywhere!
I returned to c/l last year after a 45+ year hiatus, and as for "newbie" questions, read my posts - you'll find nothing but, along with great answers and support.   ;D

Hi Richard,
Greetings from Quebec! Looks like we are both the same age so we probably have the same control line past experiences.
Feel free to ask any question you want on the forum. I have learned so much in the past 5 years on this forum.
You could also send me a PM.
Welcome back to the hobby!
Dan

Thanks Dan and will do. Still waiting on the kit I ordered. Probably not going to
have any pics until March or April the way things are going. Looking forward to tis
and so far yes I've enjoyed every moment of this site. Just trying to be not TOOOOO
much of a noob and start annoying people by asking too many questions at this point.
I guarantee things will change when I get my kit and start to build lol. Even worse when I start to fly.

we flew for the fun of it up here and to the best of my knowledge had no one in the area tha
had any clue as to what C/L really was as far as rules went. We hooked up Busters on
old 35's

With that said thanks for the warm welcome. Things have changed in the hobby and I'm hoping to change
with them. Have a friend up here who you may or may not know. Rob Killick is an old friend
and between the 2 of us maybe we can get something going up here as far as a club goes. I do know
it's popular when people see the planes fly. Time will tell.

Hi folks,  I am another noobie that just joined.  I have been flying RC for a little over three yrs now but have been having problems loosing or crashing my planes because of my failing eyesight.  I love flying and was becoming discouraged because of all the planes I was loosing.  One of our club members mentioned C/L flying so I.looked into it on the Internet.  It looks like just the ticket to keep me in the hobby.
I prefer electric, and ordered and have received the Super Clown ARF for my first plane.  I have it almost finished and am looking foreward to my first flight.
I am sure I will have many questions as I get started.  I have several already but will save them until after my first flight.
