new prototype E-Breed has flown
« on: August 14, 2017, 07:49:10 AM »
About 2 years ago Luis Strufaldi and i started the project that turned out to be the E-Breed, our first F2B model completely tailored for e-power.
After 2 years of project, adjustments and building, the model flew last week very well, straight and performed remarkably.
Hope to have a video soon doing the full pattern (by Brazilian champion Amilton Magri).
We are really glad that this dream turned out better than expected, superseeed by far my flying habilities, now i have to improve my flight skills.
Luis Strufaldi thanks a lot for the full time support and Rogério Martins Fiorotti for the superb Electric Timer and full time support!
Rogerio Fiorotti CLtimer with accelerometer, esc lite 50, engine is cobra 3520/12 820kv and battery 5s 30c 2700 mah.
final weight 1960 grams ready to fly (ended up 250-300 grams heavyer than the goal, but being a prototype i used regular balsa and brazilian heavy plywood), so the next one will be withing the 1600-1700 range.
wing and stab is monokote, fuselage have been carbon veil covered and laccquer auto paint on the whole plane, with a final 2 part clear coat to seal the ink lines.
wheel pants, cowl and nose blisters are fiberglass. Tis is the first time i have done plugs and fiber molds.

Fred,

Glad to see you get out of the shop and fly. I'll have to try that sometime.

Gotta tell ya, when I see your name on a Post I know there is something interesting there. Always is!!

This model is a beauty. Looks perfect in every way.

Fiberglass molds, Ohhhhhh My Gosh!

It's worth all that extra work, isn't it.

Outstanding!! H^^

Why can't we ever have the nice stuff? I may be wrong but look at that CL circle and flying area. It is beautiful, here in the states we are lucky to find bare patch of dirt to fly from. Flushing Meadow Park was like that many years ago but has long since fallen into a state of disrepair. I guess the field at the AMA may be nice (Never Been there) but not much anywhere else in the lower 48. They even have bleachers!

Dallas TX has a very nice field as well as St Louis Buder Park.   Now for grass fields I like the Tulsa Gluedobbers field and the field at Polk City Iowa.  For got about the circles at Wichita KS. Now thought of the circles in Omaha NE.

The joys of Building your own plane...

I wonder if others get the same satisfaction flicking through the arf catalogue?  Doubtful..  yet popular.

Well done on the building and success.

Fred,
Absolutely beautiful! I would love to see the bottom of the airplane to see how you had cooling air exits.

PJ is absolutely correct. So many people now don't experience  creating their own airplane from the drawing to completion.

Trust Fred to turn any kettle with wings into a gorgeous masterpiece. LL~ LL~

Thank you all for the kind words. It's been a long process, but we have arrived!
Now on to correct the details found during construction and see what other suggestions Amilton may come up with (you guys can see it's a collaborative endeavour).

Also, Fred, please don't do the female model thing. I have a hard enough time convincing my wife to let me go play toy airplanes with a bunch of middle-aged guys, let's not stir this pot! mw~ mw~ mw~  HB~>
