Really love the wing paint scheme.  If this weather holds, we may get first flights on the same day.  MonoKote gasses out faster!

Does it have shock absorbing Rabe style spring gear?

Here is a shot of the gear. They don't actually work though. Just thought it looked cool.

Very Nice .....I like the landing gear .... Have you ever flown a plane with "real" shock gear?  Base coat auto? including white?

Hi Frank, Actually I have.  While on alert duty in Korea back in '74 I passed the time drawing up a full set of plans for a Westland Wyven s.4.  That included shock gear having heard about Al's on the Sea Fury.  A bit different, more like Doug's mockup.  I made up a set and put them on the Mustang I was building in the base hobby shop.  All I remember going forward is that I never made another set after seeing Al's and the ones that were on the mustang melted in our fire.  They did work and made landing *different*, unless you bounced.  I never built the Wyven and the plans went the way of the shocks, but I still think it would make a great semi-scale.

Doug's plane is a masterpiece and I am really looking forward to him getting back into form.

Thats a finger chopper right there. I love seeing those beasts fly but cringe at the thought of flipping the prop. Like Windy once said...it will cut off your fingers and spit it back in your face.

Hello Frank,

I have flown one of Al's Bearcats a long time ago when our field was pretty bumpy. It landed good but at the end of the roll out a gust flipped it over. I felt like a total ass for that happening. He was real cool about it though.

It's dope with zinc then light auto primer on the seams. Then base coat clear coat including the white. The whole plane is not white. I don't usually paint the whole plane one color. The white went on first. So most of the wing and lower half of the fuse got white. Then start taping and laying other colors. Took a few weeks to get it done with a massive screw up on the clear by me. But the repairs turned out fine.

Weighs 69oz. 737 sq in.

4 oz over what I wanted.

I haven't finger flipper a model engine in a very long time. I use a piece of heater hose and back flip it on the leading edge. Carbon props are no joke! I see people using pipe coupler on their finger and it's scary.

First 3 flights this weekend.
Controls are a little stiff but got better on each flight.
It needed a push rod adjustment. I took it home and made the adjustment.
Now we wait for better weather.

This one will need the Walker flow chart for sure.
