What do you C/L ers like...BUILD UP or SOLID FLAPS. Pros. Cons???

I build them up if the plan calls for it... but most of mine are solid flaps.  I think the main point in question is the weight.  With R/C I assume they would generally be bigger than C/L planes so built up might be more prevalent.

Flaps that don,t twist or flex and are not heavy.
Solid or built up, doesn,t matter as long as they meet the above requirement.
Not meant to be a "smart"answer ,this is just the way it is.
Not an easy choice,because if it doesn,t meet the above, its totaly wrong.
If in doubt,build a mock up and test. Its easier than a ruined plane.(cheaper too!)

As a general rule, lots of little parts, properly organized, will be superior to one big part that is just carved to shape. Lighter, stiffer, stronger. Also harder to repair, but if you ever tried to strip a TE of balsa...and have it be truly straight, that's why I make stuff out of many small pieces.  The real deal would be composite flaps. Molded CF flap LE, carbon strip TE, balsa ribs with carbon caps, balsa  plugs for the hinge locations. Nuthin' to it... Steve
