How many people are showing for the stuntathon. Just curious. I know there are still a bunch of us who have planes left. See you there for a good time. LL~ H^^ #^

I'm a bit apprehensive, with Howard being the CD. He may be calling your wife to tell her that you just blew 1st place, lost to a girl, or something horrible like that. He's such a cut-up. Best solution is to bring your spouse along, so Howard can't call her. See ya there.  LL~ Steve

I intend to be there, despite Howard being the CD.

It is my belief that the Bod Busters will be there as well, as I have told them that slumming at the Stunt circles is okay, especially when concentrating on Combat events, but if they want to actually get better in Stunt the full-immersion route is best. And this is the first event of the year where we can first watch them fly and then nail 'em down in the pits, the better to accept reams and reams of really bad advice.

I'll be there. Sure hope we have some good weather. Looks OK on the long range forcast, but you never know this time of year. In spite of that, it will be fun. Always is.

I haven't made the Stuntathon since the switch to the Thun Field venue but I'm planning to be there this time. Any of you veterans have suggestions on acceptable lodging nearby?

Yahoo! yellow pages will help. Search Puyallup (not "Pulleypoop"). I don't think there are any motels in Graham. A few in Spannaway and Parkland (not particularly nice, but workable and cheap).  Not sure this link will work, but I'll try.  Looks like it does! There are 10 pages of motels, hotels, B&B's, but there are also some strange things called "casinos" and even the "Hanger Inn" is in the list. Obviously, the "Inn" word has faked out the search engine.  LL~ H^^ Steve

For those of you who haven't been to the contest at Thun Field, here's a link to a couple of maps that I put on our site, courtesy of MapQuest.   http://www.nwskyraiders.com/thunfield.html   Yes, it is possible to come into Graham from the South, from I-5, I think turning off at the Yelm exit just N. of Oly. Can't say that it's the fast way, but it's another way, and kinda scenic. There's no way to get there from Wildwood, WA....

Steve,

Not a problem for us natives...if they don't open the new bridge early. I'm sure that will back up traffic to Poulsbo.

I think Randy and most the guys had left by the time a thunder storm came through, complete with torrential rains, lots of hail, and yep, thunder! We don't get a lot of thunder up here. I think the moist blue skies bleed off the static buildup.

We had some good guys stay after the presentations and help teardown the barricades and get the trailer and sunshades/rainflys all packed. CD Howard Rush, Pete Peterson, Mike Haverly, Mike Potter, Dave Gardner, Pete Ferguson, Ben Jones, and others I'm sure to have missed.  We missed the returns of of Jill Claus and Angela Stratton, our tabulation crew. Yeah, Rod Claus, too. Came down with the sniffles.  Paul Walker and Howard Rush filled in as best they could  :##, and flew (quite well, obtw).

Mike Potter and I had a convoy up through Sumner to the trailer storage yard in Pacific. There were white mounds of hail along the road...quite amazing, because it had been there awhile. We don't get that much hail, either, so this was just really "special".  Ewwwww!   LL~ Steve

Leo's KERSPLAT was due to wind shifting and resulting slack lines. Or slow dancing, when he shoulda been doing the boogaloo or jitterbug. First time I remember getting hit with flying plane parts while Judging. Didn't deduct any points for that, tho...the 10 points for the RWO was bad enough...and no pattern points! Yep, quite a 'hit'.

Scott can't even spell "Pulleypoop", and he's the one that originated that spelling. Good grief! Pu-yall-up...old American Indian word for "another crumby town with no flying site". Thun Field is actually in Graham. Residents are, obviously, "Graham Crackers".

I found out why an unnamed (but honorable fellow member of the Broadway Bod Busters)  left without flying or entering. He couldn't find his AMA card. Dang. Well, we'll see him in BC with his passport, maybe.   mw~ Steve

And where were you, DonnyLee? We missed you.

NO EXCUSE...except on Sat. Carol bought a new patio table way up north in the University district and afterwards we ate at the RAM Eatery.
Sat. night we spent "huggin the pottiee" (too much info I know) and hurling our guts out...almost all night.
Both of us felt like poop...the next day!

Warning! DON'T GO FOR THEIR NICE LITTLE SALMON SANDWICH SPECIAL unless its Cooked purty good. Both of our meals were quite undercooked!
Carol stayed home from work on Monday....(the good side in all this---We both lost some weight (the hard way!)
It was about Wed. before we both revived and felt alive again.

NOW FOR THE GOOD NEWS!
(I just got a note from Bob Hunt...and he greazzzzzed the AMA skids to get my old AMA # 36622 reinstated!!
HOW COOL IS THAT?
