Flying Models is one of my favorite magazines. Recently I ordered a set of plans for the "Big Job" and a bound volume of all the issues from 1991. I received the order in about a week. Unfortunately the plan, which was shipped rolled in one of those triangular shaped boxes, was literally crushed end to end and partially torn apart in the middle. I contacted Flying Models asking for instructions of what to do. Basically, I thought this was a battle I would have to fight with the Postal Service. They told me to return the box, unopened, to the postal service and refuse to accept delivery. The Post Office would then send it back to Flying Models and I would get a replacement. Here is where Flying Models showed first class customer service. They sent me a replacement the very next day after I notified them of the problem...before I had even taken the crushed box back to the Post Office. I received my new plan two days after notifying them of the problem. I've heard a lot of bad things said about the service at Flying Models and even experienced some of the same things others complained about in the past. It's probably human nature to complain about bad service, but this is a case where they deserve recognition for a job well done!
