I watched videos of this plane some time back. Nice looking plane-both!! What motor are you planning to use.

Maybe, with all those stars and dark sky, you should use the Snorer!!

Derek,

I didn't realize that you were an artist !!   Neat looking plane...would like to see some more photos.

QUESTION:   The red/white separation line was taped, but the rest were feathered.   When you do the
feathered separation lines, do you do them completely *free hand*, or do you set up some kind of
jig that allows you to sweep the spray gun the 180 degrees?   The arcs look pretty consistant for free
hand.

TIA

Cheers.

Hey Warren,

Yes the feathered colors are done free hand and it was fairly difficult. The Red line that is taped I made a guide for with a vinyl plotter at work. I just followed my template with tape. The stars were positive masks that were stuck on before the blue was sprayed and then removed after.

Thanks for the kind words. This was a fun project. By the way, I did that in two days.

You will like the Evo 60. I added one head gasket and a STNV to mine. Powermaster R/C 10% nitro 17% lube R/C fuel w/ one ounce Aero oil. RSM 12x5.5 prop. One flip starts, nice 4/2/4 run. 62 ounce big T-Bird, lotsa power. 5.5 ounces gets you a 6 minute flight at sea level. 8)

Hey Pete,

Did you change the venturi to the small one that comes with it?  On the bench it ran out 5oz. in 4 minutes.

Thanks Tom,

This plane is not exactly mine, it is another plane that we built for Bob Shaw (the guy that owns the Sweeper and about 50 other planes that Dad has built for him over the years) I really had fun with this one and it has my AMA numbers on it so I will probably use it from time to time. Bob likes us to compete with some of the planes we make for him.

Affirmitive on the venturi change. Use the smallest one. Tank is a stock RSM 5.5 ounce uniflow vented to the outside. Muffler is an Adamissin Tube. Plug a Merlin 2005. Launch RPM about 8,700. Mileage improved with break-in. Should be a good combination for the Hunter.  No need to go electric with this one. 8)

There is both Sig and Brodak colors on the plane. I think the two blues and the black is Brodak and everything else is Sig. The dark red at the edge of the white is a Sig and Brodak mixture. I had to use the colors from each that I liked the best. The clear that is going on now is DuPont 480s, it is a premixed auto clear. I can hear Mark screaming at me right now but this is how we have always done things. It seems to work pretty good for us. I do not recommend other people doing this unless you have experience with mixing different dopes because it is risky.

Nice job man! Two days! HB~> It takes me two weeks to mask! LL~ puttin out a bunch of first class work there. I have been admiring Bobs HH for several years now...but I feel obligated to building my Dads version before I do. I flew my dad's HHs at VSC about 10 years back and managed a respectable placing given I had no appearance points. Yours looks absolutely killer!

I know that is the beauty with this paint scheme, only one masked line, where the red meets the white. It was great!! Well I did have to mask the canopy so two masked lines the latter took about 15 minutes.

Thanks John!

Eric is spot on about those wheel pants.

Another great effort.

.60 in that sized model? Thats a bit overkill isnt it? - Do you know it was designed for a .35 !
