New Cardinal
« on: March 04, 2010, 04:53:15 AM »
Ok here it is... nearly 2 years in the making... Brodak Cardinal with a OS FS52 four banger.  Had to take nearly 2" off the nose to get the CG right.  But unfortunately that meant no room for a tank.  So for the moment I have a 4oz Hayes clunk on the inside, but may build a custom tank later to fit behind the engine.

The prop is a 10x7.5 three blader... not sure how this will go... weight is 50 oz.  Paint job is all epoxy enamel, no plastic.

Engine is almost run in... final run in needs to be done before I can fly it.

The plane looks great.  I see you have your tank on the inboard side of fuse.  Let us know how it works.   H^^

Warren, I have seen plenty of profiles with the tank mounted on the inboard side. If the tank is plumbed right, it seems to make NO DIFFERENCE. But that said, you gots to put your setup the way you feel comfortable. Please keep us posted on the os Max 4 stroke. Nice to see someone using something different, and more sophisticated besides the usual LA 46 on the old profile.

Thanks guys, hopefully I will fly it tomorrow. I will keep you posted.

The paint scheme is copied from the Strega ARF, it was more about me learning to paint models and make good curves rather than using plastic film and trim sheets.

Yes, we do call them wheel pants Paul!

The motor starts real easy... first flick!  I'm not sure about the prop though... is it big enough?

Cheers

Howard would call those "wheel trousers".....or maybe "wheel knickers"?  LL~ Steve

Edit: The inboard tank might be a great thing for a 4-cycle, what with their rep for weak suction.
