New airplane

  Traded my nephew an Associated R/C car w/ radio for his Brodak Clown ARf and a GMS .25. He tried to fly it once with his father and nosed it in 2 years ago. The Lg is bent and one flap has popped all the hinges loose. it has sat in their garage ever since, never even bothered to clean it up.
  The car was one I raced locally 15 years ago. that ups the total of "practice " planes to 3(or 4 if you count the slow rat racer I picked up at a swap meet). Hopefully this will save my Sea Hurricane and the Tutor II I'm going to rebuild for later this year.

I have to recover 1/2 the wing and change the engine. It has a GMS .25 on it right now, pretty heavy. I'm thinking either an OS .25 fsr or 25f. I was thinking about a TT.25 but have heard they are not a strong motor. As short coupled as the Clown is, I'm sure my Father will fly it like he stole it!!

  Repaired the Clown last night. Shaved 4 oz. off the total wt. by replacing the GMS.25 with an OS 25F. Pinned the flap hinges and covered them with some sign vinyl I bought for repairs. Also had a rather large hole in the OB wing, covered it as well. I still need to rebalance, it has 2 oz. on the tail. I am going to put the Cg at 15% of the chord.
  I am using a Brodak NVA, an OS.25 venturi. Did have to clearance the case and venturi for the NVA to fit.
  Prop wise I'm thinking 9x4 for me and 8x6 for some of the old C/l fliers at my club and my father. When I go with a "fast' prop I usually only put 2 oz. of fuel in the plane. I have also been known to change props while someone keeps the "next" victim busy. I have been told after their flights that the plane didn't look that fast from outside the circle.

  I still have a slow rat racer to repair, the OB wingtip. Once that is done I'll have 5 total C/l planes to fly(4 to hopefully learn the pattern with). I have a Brodak Sea Hurricane on the board right now, and a Tutor II wing that needs repaired( along with a new fuselage). Not to mention working 40+ a week and learning to fly R/C. Also working on templates for Voodoos and the Nemesis.
