I left Seattle 10:00am PST  Tuesday  plan to hit my room Saturday.  I'm in Billings as I enjoy coffee.  Is there any truth that the Nats will be in Tucson next year? Or was that Woodland ,California?

Well, the plan didn't work out. Got a call from Howard yesterday at noon saying he wasn't stopping by on the way to Muncie.

Turns out he is a sissy. The AC in his Prius stopped working Tuesday morn and he took it in to be fixed before leaving.

I remember driving my Ford Minivan through the heat with out air. I stopped for gasoline & it was hotter in the van than in the 98 degree heat. I bought a car in 2007 & wouldn't drive without air in that heat again,,I don't know how I used to survive.
Staying in South Dakota tonight ,,,, stopping in Peere S.D. to see the WW2 Monunent in the am then forward .

I'm in Mountain Home, ID.  Car AC working fine at 104F outside air temperature.  Hotel AC inadequate.  They switched me to a different room, still inadequate.  These rooms both had new air conditioners, which the desk cutie said don't work well.  I relocated the temperature sensor, which had been installed adjacent to the coil.  I am now cool as a cucumber.

I drove from Kentucky to California when I was moving out here in a car with no air conditioning, right across the desert in July. It was livable, mostly. The one interesting point was going from the desert for a day and a half, and then stopping in Truckee for gas. We had been getting pretty hot for a while, but there was snow on the ground and it was 38 degrees.

In hotels with the "central thermostat" controlled from a remote location, at night they frequently override your settings and it gets stuffy. My engineer buddies and I found that an affront, so we set about trying to hack it to do what we wanted. Everybody else tried to fiddle with the digital connections with little luck due to lack of equipment.  I took a washcloth, soaked it with water, put it in the plastic bag used for the ice bucket, wrapped it up, put it in the microwave for about 45 seconds. Then I draped it over the thermostat housing and put a dry hand towel over the whole thing. Woke up about 4 in the morning and it was still nice and toasty under the towel and it was about 45 degrees in the room.

Yeah, I think he should have opted for the world class critiquing and just dealt with the heat. It's going to be a tough contest.

At the LPad.  Nobody here accept Brenda and Melvin just pulled up.  Things here look good,  not all dried and burned like last year.  Quite windy.  Free Flight is encamped across the road but nothing going up.  Likely done for today.  There is a van and trailer with vending machines parked right where the tabulation trailer goes.  Move it or we'll steal a coke machine!  This looks like a mobile QT.  Maybe it's staying. Going to wander over to the FF.

Looks like FF will have another full day tomorrow.  They are launching from just across the road from circle 4 and blowing directly over site 3. :),:).:)!!  Can't see how that will affect us at all if the wind blows from the same direction tomorrow.  Some electric FF going up now.

Hey Will, after seeing your post in the scale section, it dawned on me that 2 1/2 hours is a daily commute to and from work for some of us. LL~ LL~

Hey Doc, been off the grid for three days due to a computer glitch - but ya gotta know I consider Muncie my home field!  Ain't no bother at all to get down there and bother Allen Goff & usually Roger (the) Wildman for a day.  However, it's been a long time since I've done that!

All you nats guys, enjoy and be blessed!!!! #^ #^ #^

Stan & I arrived at AMA around 2:30PM today (Friday) Picked up our packet, drove around the field, checked in at the motel, unloaded the car. Went to Wally world picked up water, cooler & some other stuff.
Had dinner at the Texas Roadhouse. Going to watch TV for a little while, shower & hit the sack.
Going to the field in the morning & fly.

My trip to the NATS started friday the 5th and I headed to Denver picked up my Dad and we drove to Reighlander WI to see a house he built 66 years ago. Then down to Saint Louis for a layover and on to the NATS Saturday Morning. I should arrive around 3:00. So my Nats trip so far has been 3000 miles this year. Kind of like the song I went to LA via Ohmaha.

I'll be right behind you pullin my trailer Sparky!

I should be there late Saturday afternoon.  Get hooked up to the electric at the RV hookups right there in the center of the AMA field (next to the RC Pylon area).  Then I can go see who is practicing on the grass.

Hope to see Trax there!

Looking forward to seeing you and your dad there, Robert.  I'm in MO myself now, St. Joseph.

I spent most of the day in Nebraska.  It's a nice place with plenty of rest areas on I-80, important for us geezers.  There are Starbucks at North Platte and York, important for us Seattelites and somewhat correlated with the importance of the rest areas.

This is where a GPS and a cell phone can save you a lot of wasted time. The GPS will give up the phone number of each motel in the town you want to stop in, before you arrive...call ahead and axe 'em if they've got a room for you. Real good idea to have the navigator doing that, while the driver tends to bizness. Allow about 50 miles to get that done.  H^^ Steve

Kaz indeed scored 20 points with his Hellcat.  This is not the same one he used last year but a nicer one.  Hard to understand that statement without actually seeing it in person.  He said "I am very happy today!"  Funny that's the same thing he said last year after finishing fourth.  The last flight he put in this morning in absolutely dead air was a scorcher.  I wouldn't be surprised to see him fly Saturday again.
The temperature this morning when we left to each lunch was 95 with about the same humidity.  Backing up was mandatory.

James.
I would be pretty confident that if it were Pats design, it would have dihedral,, It appears that Kaz's plane does not have dihedral,, so I would assume just on that fact it is his own design

NO! This model, as well as as his first one, is his design and 100% moulded with his own mandrels.  Six years of development and many thousands of dollars.  He has been asked why he doesn't sell them.   His answer;  "Too expensive, you cannot afford."

Mike is correct, one look at Kaz's plane by a trained eye and you know that HE built it.
