Found it at a swap meet around 30 years ago, put it in a box, forgot all about it.
Anyone know what it is?
New, never been run or mounted.

Thanks, Jim - I appreciate the reply.

I thought Vivell made only one engine, the 35 (pictured).
The 35 actually looks like a smaller version of the Madewell 49!

Earl Vivell Designed the Madewell 49.   So, yes, it is a 'big' Vivell 35....  And the 49  makes a LOT of noise.   Had one in a Humongous for a long time,  to the annoyance of a lot of OTS stunt judges!!

Those photos of the engines are a nice bit of history of early C/L engines. Interesting, the Madewell .35 ignition has a hole in the hollow bolt shaft to run the wire to coil / ignition battery through. Having never experienced it, I think it would be a personal thrill to watch one of these motors in a stunt plane doing its rounds. Matched to the right airframe, flyers must have made them very competitive then.

Here's a video of me flying my spark ignition OK Super 60 powered Viking.
Fuel is gasoline and castor oil.

My Viking, built around 30 years ago, still flying with the same OK Super 60 on spark ignition.
The only change I made is using 25%, 50-50 castor-synthetic oil instead of straight castor and the addition of a muffler.

Still runs like new, with now close to one thousand flights.

Flying ignition engines doubles the fun. I have 6 control line planes with ignition engines and two old free flights with radios and ignition engines.

Fuel cost is next to nothing compared to glow. I have many hours of flying and running them on the bench and they seem to run forever if taken care of.

But then I grew up watching them fly at the park. I was hooked the first time I saw one. They are just so unique. All the different manufacturers had a different idea on how to build an engine.

Even this dark sider (electric!) is a HUGE fan of Bob Z's Viking with the more-than OK Super 60!  If only if he could eliminate the smell & the "greasy kid-stuff"... (flame suit on)

Robert, your Viking flight on ignition was fantastic, I never gave much thought to ignition before. Plus, using lower cost gasoline versus glow fuel, that's a big plus.

Hi Bob, It's always a trip down memory lane when you fly that NOISY thing but fun to watch as long as I remember to put my ear plugs in to tone down the racket! I do like Brunhilda though!

It's an Ipro-Ikar, whatever the hell that means.

It's .49 CID and glow.

Anyone ever seen or heard of one?
