Is monokote still being made? 

Yes i use Ultrakote too, but looking for monokote for an RC gilder project.

Ultrakote tend to creep for me when it shrinks.

The old Monokote is gone. The new isn't very good. I've found that Ultrakote needs a lot of heat to make it stick. Use Ultrakote for best results.

Monokote is in fact still being produced. There's a local hobby shop here in Vegas that carries some. But even if I need to order it, I have them do it for me. Free shipping that way. Especially handy when I only need one roll.

   At least the type Jim and I tried is definitely not the same as the original. In our case, it appeared to be stretched in one direction and not the other, so it only shrunk in one direction.

Same experience here--it shrinks ok spanwise but not across the roll. Seems like this goes back a few years, although I never put dates on the rolls I bought. Don't think it is exclusive to one color. Have had issues with white, yellow, light blue, etc.  It's still usable, but not what we came to expect--a really good way to finish a wing if you couldn't, or didn't want to, paint it.

Absolutely true. I just meant it's still being produced under the monokote name. It is not the monokote of yesteryear. But, if a person is accustomed to the new stuff, he or she can look forward to continued support.

I recently picked up Vintage Performance Models new iron on covering. I got 4 rolls to test. For the same price as competitive brands of iron on, you get 2 more linear feet of material.

Edit: as you noted, monokote brand shrinks more in the length direction than in the width. I don't find this to be the case with other brands

   Right, and neither did the original Monokote. Thats why the next time I have to do it, I am switching to Ultrakote. Not as good as the original Monokote but better than the current.

There are guys in my RC club using Hobbyking covering on both glow and electric and so far I haven't seen any issues.

How does HobbyKing shrink out at the tips? Can the wrinkles be eliminated as with monokote?

I did a video review several years back about the hobby king iron on. I liked it ok.  I would compare it to econokote in application. The corners and tips come out nice. It has a great lower temp range for compound curves. Just gotta be careful with too much heat. You can burn a hole "easier" (not that it's easy, just more susceptible than monokote) while pulling.

   He doesn't have time to respond to such trivial and puerile (not to mention, beaten into the ground) taunts.   The Commissioner has his hands full  working closely with the Biden transition team to ensure a smooth operation of The Hurl under the new administration.

Brett is correct, I am already being hounded by the liberal left wanting to shut down the “World Famous Fox .15 Hurl” It seems that they think that it is a dangerous event and want it shut down. They believe that an inexperienced hurler could hit somebody or something that might cause property damage or injury. Leave it to those commies to dictate what’s right or good for us. Riots, looting and burning our cities accepted, but they are concerned about the safety of bystanders at our grand event.

It's is a better value than monokote, the shrink roll is about 15 f long. I'll give it a try.
