MODEL AIRPLANE NEWS
« on: June 28, 2012, 07:42:59 PM »
Received an e-mail promoting a subscription to MAN for $19.95 for AMA members for a year. Is this legit? Anyone else get this?

I gave up on M.A.N. years ago, when they dropped all C/L.

Yep MAN  declared Control line dead...  and said they would stop covering it

M.A.N. is of no use here.  At one time (1950s; '60s) it was a great rag...then went 100% RC, ARFs and other garbage.

MAN could offer to pay me $19.95 a year to subscribe and I would still decline. Too bad, years ago I could hardly wait for the next issue. Another good thing lost to "progress". :(

The model for success was RCM, but it was/is a low-rent ripoff of RCM.

Twenty bucks a year for a new catalog of the same ARF's each month.  I still fly R/C but gave up on MAN years ago.  Flying Models is the best all around model mag IMHO.
It's only paranoia if they aren't really after you.

I sent them a reply stating that since they haven't covered all forms of models for years, they should change their name to "RC Model Airplane News". That would be more truthful. Obviously the mag that we used to look forward too each month is no longer worth bothering with.

Yes, Flying Models is the best, but they desperately need our support, if they are to survive.

I do have a major concern with AMA giving M.A.N. all of our email addresses.

It has been, what, at least 20 years since MAN quit covering control line.   Yes they do list some control line plans of the past on line, but that is all as far as control line.   They don't even have build articles for RC at least what I see in the few issues I looked at the hobby shop.   H^^

I just tossed a few hundred of MAN along with all the others including Warbird and GA mags. Mags from the early 70's to mid 2000's.

I'll bet a thousand mags and change, at least. Weight off of my back.

I sold all the European mags on ebay. Europe modeling Rocks!

Now to reduce all my hard cover aviation books, 150 possibly more. 40 years of collection material and it's worth basicly nothing.

Anyone want to buy a book.

Just let me know what it is, I may have it.  LL~
