mmodel show @ the Cradle of Aviation
« on: March 29, 2012, 05:57:27 AM »
Incase you don't know there is a model expo at the Cradle Of Aviation Museum on L.I. this Sat. and Sun.
I tried to get info about showing control line planes and putting on demo's which they plan to do. R/c, rubber and helo's will be represented but nothing about control line. A couple of us will be going and we will bring a couple of planes to show if we can and perhaps fly. I made a bunch of info packets about c/l, If I can find a spot to put them I will, but in any case we would really like to get involved in next years expo to represent another aspect of the hobby and draw attention to it and the fact that there are active c/l clubs that participate in interstate competition. Little is known that there is loads of websites and suppliers for c/l out there, I listed some of them in the packets. Good luck brothers!---LOUIE  H^^ H^^ D>K

I liked that Museum when I last visited it, oh about 15 years ago.

Great memories of my dad taking us down to Mitchell field to watch models fly, probably early 70's or late 60's.
Polk's and Larry's Hobbies in East Meadow, gone now.

Hope you get to show the models and fly!

-Chris

Hi Chris, Where was Polk's in East Meadow located? Larry's went out to East Northport and is now called Elwood Hobbies. Thanks, Mike

Mitchel Field was great ! I remember my mom taking me on three buses from Flushing out to the field to see the great air shows they used to put on there. Mike does Larry's carry any c/l stuff? I may stop after the show to take a look.---LOUIE  H^^ D>K

Louie, Don't waste your time going to Elwood Hobbies looking for control line stuff. You would find more stuff at Big Apple Hobbies in Queens if that tells you anything. Mike

Polk's was on the same block as Larry's on Front Street in East Meadow. Just off Hempstead Turnpike. There was a donut shop at the intersection, maybe Twin Donuts if I remember right.
