Wow...
That time we lived behind the "Iron Curtain", in Hungary.
Thanks to our revolution in 1956, our virtual system of living looked not so rigid just like in DDR, or anywhere else within the "Warsaw Pact". Hungary was called as "merriest barraque of Communist Camp"

Some hated us (DDR and Rumania) some liked us (Poland) and many polish citizens used to come to us regularly, to make their minor businesses. The "Polish Market" was its common name.
Returning to your story, if you picked up connection with Piotr Zawada* previously, all your needs for practice place & everything in Poland, could been arranged perfectly.
*late Piotr was an excellent man, friend, stunt pilot, and finally world champion in C/L scale. (F4B). Naturally he spoken English fluently, and had written a nice book on "Secrets of C/L Stunt".
