Hi Ted,In another post (Imitation) I asked about the circular bellcrank. I have a couple Golden State circular BCs, and would like to use one in the Imitation as drawn in MA.Any thoughts/comments?Thanks!Bill "Coach" Big Bear" "Mongo" Little
Holy Cow, Bill. Are these the ones I had made back in the '70s? Any idea where they came from? The ones I had made could stand to have the bushing replaced by something more durable. I used two of them in the Imitation and the Excitation and another in the Citation V. The Excitation didn't last long enough to wear out the bushing to the point of affecting the flight but both the Imitation and the Citation had to have transplants after several hundreds (at least) of flights. The bushing were too soft and the BC would eventually start to rock on its axis which made level flight and intersections "interesting". Can you post a picture so we know what we're talking about???Ted
Hi Ted, I will have to take a picture! They were sold in "Golden State Models" boxes. They are "old" Bill
Yeah, Bill. Be sure to include a picture of the package. As I far as I can recall a wonderful old modeler by the name of John Schickwrath machined all of the ones I was familiar with. However, the name "Golden State" certainly give a hint of authenticity. Back in the time frame I used those some of the guys down Fresno way were producing small quantities of stunt stuff and they might well have machined some of these. Is yours aluminum or some sort of nylon/delrin stuff?Ted
Hi Ted,The ones I have are Nylon/Delrin with the shaft installed. Gotta get my camera working again or get a new one! LOL!!Bill
Yeah, Bill. That sounds right. As my "oldtimers" fluxes in and out some memory of white nylon versions of that crank come into a semi-focused state. As far as I know the bearings in those are sound. I've still got a couple of the originals but since we've all gone to four inch cranks their theoretical value has been pretty much mitigated.Go forth with my blessing!Merry Christmas to all the big and little Littles.Ted
