Bob,
My Ringmaster weighs about 26 oz and has an OS20FP on it.  I started with 62' lines (eyelet to eyelet) and have been shortening them a bit at a time.  I'm now at 58' and think this is about right.  I believe that lines about around 58' would work on either of your Ringmasters with the .25 power.

My other Ringmaster (old Sterling kit) weighs about 28 oz, but has a Johnson .32 on it.  I fly it on 60' lines, but use .015 cables instead of .012.

Steve, I forgot to mention I have 018 lines, so maybe take an extra foot or two off for the drag, or order some 015's?

Order the .015's and start over.

Suggest using .012's cables on your .25 powered Ringmasters...it's the smallest size allowed. I use 60' eye to eye .012's on my Skyray/.25LA...and that's too long by about 2'. If you must use the same lines for both, make them work for the heavy one. They'll be shorter than optimal for the light plane, but that's what you get.

Personally, having to adjust the handle for two different planes would make me just make up two sets of lines and two handles. Tho, maybe you can make an adjustment with the pushrod at the elevator, or the lengths of the line clips you leave on the leadouts. The Tom Morris handles from CLC are just not that expensive, nor much work to get ready to use. Get the hard point handles! http://www.clcentral.com/products.asp?cat=59   y1 Steve

Brother Bob,

Get the .015 at least.  Steve says .012s are legal so those would probably be even better!  Either way, get off those .018s. y1

Steve, can you show me where it says its legal to use .012's on anything bigger than .20 engine? Not being a smart a$$ here, but I thought that was the rule.

Hi Clint
page CLA-2 of the 2007-2008 AMA CLPA rule book
engine displacement .801-.2550 = .012 multi strand. actually .010 if you want solids but i wouldn't.

Yes, use the smallest diameter legal for your application and start over.

Bob, I need a set of .018 lines, if you want to sell yours, let me know.  I have a set that is about 50 feet, don't ask me why, but I got them in a package deal, and they will screw you into the ground.  I have to order a longer set.

Youse guys should order a 1000' spool of your favorite size from RSM. About the price of two sets off the rack at the LHS. RSM's line is shiny silver colored, making it much easier to see in grass or on pavement...which may just make them last longer or be safer to fly with. Bronzed lines sucketh!  H^^ Steve
