Line Clips with a slide
« on: April 18, 2010, 06:41:55 PM »

Where can I find goo quality line clips with a slide for .60 size model?

The X-Large line clips that I have been getting from Brodak lately are not working very well for me. I find them hard to open and close and in some cases the slider is opening. My friends are complaining about the same thing too.

The clips I have with markings "USA" and "LUXON" works great, does any one know where I can find them so I can buy them in bulk?

Try MBS Model Supply or Control Line Central.  Myself I would stay with the siccors type line conectors. H^^

In addition to what Doc said, don't forget to contact Randy Smith, he has an excellent set of line clips of different sizes that allow you to make fine adjustments to your system. They work great

Randy's "Hello Kitty" clips are about the neatest new idea I have seen in a long time. As far as I can tell they solve all the problems associated with the Luxon type, and are not going to hang on one leg like the McMahon snap types.

I would caution against any of the slider-type clips - they have a nasty tendency to, on rare occasions. to open up. And at least some of them are just brass under the plating.

I agree with Brett. I stopped using Luxon clips a looooong time ago when the newer clips became available. Squeeze them to install, pull on a leg to release the line eyelet.

I have seen the old Luxon clips open when lines went slack and then snapped back, and/or when the slider was only partially closed. I just don't trust them.

I don't see these on Randys site. Do you need to contact him direct?

Thanks Brett.

That's sounds better then what I was looking for. I never had problems with the "Luxon" or the "USA" ones, but now that I am testing a 76oz Strega I may need stronger clips.

Hi Brett, a couple of weeks ago, a discussion about this very subject came up about the use of "slider clips." (I've used them for a zillion years, but have been weening myself of them.) I was informed that they were banned at the NAT's; comment???

I seem to recall that Paul did not permit someone (maybe Josias) to use them on the CD "safety" provision last year. I would say they were probably banned as long as Paul is the CD. Paul can probably give the definitive answer.

Interesting, I've never seen Randy's "Hello Kitty" clips. Could someone put up a pic of one?

Only in certain events in which they are not rated for the pull test required.  Even then I wouldn't use them. H^^
